I believe this anime needs no introduction to the most. (Americans and their Adult Swim!! 
). I am such a newbie for not seeing this OVA serie earlier. Had it for a while in my anime stash but I saw all eps (1-6) in one go yesterday night. And it was a great fun mindtrip. 
It's about Naota, a boy meeting a girl called Haruhara Haruko (she says she's an alien) when she drives over Naota with her Vespa Scooter and after that she smacks Naota's head with her guitar. When that happened I thought there was no plot at all, and wondered why it's so popular and everyone thinks FLCL is great.
But it's a really satisfying anime. I pretty much had a bad day but this really made my night. The character development is WTF, and you think the story doesn't progress, but FLCL has alot humorous moments and really great looking mecha fight scenes. (the animation, explosions, sound = *drool*) Oooh the quality of an OVA...
I think this is the best creation of GAINAX after Evangelion. It's so damn crazy, not to mention the music, performed by "the pillows" (the FLCL is the only OST they ever did) is AWESOMELY GREAT. And FLCL, like Evangelion, fits well in the 'Dementia' genre. Mindtrippin, but fun. And Haruko is the craziest anime female character, EVER. ;D I RECOMMEND.
