A post-apocalyptic wasteland may well be the perfect battleground for one of the most intense and most brutal action titles in anime: Fist of the North Star, the story of grand fighters and the quest for survival in a world thrown out of balance. Ken is an enlightened warrior. He has been given the moniker "Fist of the North Star." He hands are capable of killing in one punch or healing the sick. Seeking his love Julia, who was taken from him by Shin, the Fist of the South Star, Ken wanders the wastelands, fighting those who would prey on the weak and sowing the seeds of hope for those who will accept. Even as his own mission drives him onward, destiny will bring him new friends and old enemies. Even in this very brutal and graphic title, there is hope, hope for a future.

Just got the DVD of the original movie again, and it reminded me of how much I love the series in general. The only problem is that with the movie they had to condense the story right down, meaning it's mainly just a gorefest with a bare minimum plot... but one of the very best gorefests there is . Anyway, I've never read the mangas personally, but I would like to. For now though, I think I might start picking up the TV series DVD's again... "AAAAAAAAAH-DADADADADADADADADADADA! You're already dead..." Kaz

do you ever bother watching the movie in japanese language? i prefer it in its dubbed form since it's a lot more fun to hear the cheesy lines and B-grade kung fu movie voices the episodes are good too, although the 80's look and animation may not be tolerable by some (especially in the first 2 volumes of the DVD, where the animation is a bit weird at times). i wanna check out the new FotNS one day, with an updated look, continued storyline, and MODERN BADASS ANIMATION!!!!!!!11 gotta love Rei and his ability to shred punks to ribbons too

Only ever seen the movie dubbed, I've never seen it available in Japanese with English subtitles. As for the series it HAS to be dubbed because you gotta love it when it pauses and a guy shouts the name of the move Ken just did, while it also flashes up on writing on screen! Very cheesy, but also hilarious Kaz
