Beavis and Butt-Head

Just got vol 1 of the Mike Judge collection. According to Judge 1/3 of the series was horrible and that these volumes being released are of the 2/3 that he liked about the series. I've been laughing like crazy at this thing and it's especially nice since you get some music videos with it.

Sweet. I was gonna get those dvd's but I heard that a few minor scenes were cut out. Also I have the time life best of dvd's from a while back which is 6 dvd's worth of episodes, so most of the ones on the mike judge collection are on there anyway (although they dont have the vids). The only missing one I can think of on time life that annoyed me was the one where they both forget how to pee... that was hilarious! ;D

B&B is awesome anyways. Best ones are of course the Cornholio episodes, but my other fave episodes are the nose bleed one, and the chokin on chicken episode. I almost literally can't breath when I watch those, they make me laugh so much!

Heck the dvd's I got better not be missing scenes. Their supposed to be uncut. Although that might make them different in that sense since they sometimes are longer without the edits. One of my favorites has to be when Beavis nearly gets killed riding the giant tire ;D

Anyways, here's a quote from a review on amazon.com:

According to DVDTalk (see the forums), they have previewed this set and at least some of these episodes have been CUT.

The so called "director's cut" episodes don't ADD anything... they only remove stuff. So not only do you not get the videos in with the episodes, you also get censored episodes as well.

Some examples from DVDTalk (so far):

* 1-900-BEAVIS - On the Time Life disc, when the boys first make the phone call, they laugh and Butthead says "She said something" and they continue to laugh. On the Paramount disc, this line is omitted.

During the call the lady asks if they're there, and on the Time Life disc Butthead says "I think I just innoculated" (which is kinda funny actually). This line is removed in the Director's Cut.

Then at the end, the last line in the Time Life version is "Hey, maybe we'll hear some butt wind." This is removed from the Director's Cut.


* Late Night with Butthead - The new Director's Cut removes the first minute and a half of this episode, starting instead where B&B pitch the idea for their talk show. It removes Letterman's cameo voice appearance. Later, the director's cut removes B&B celebrating with some air guitar after successfully pitching their show.

So again, the only thing the Director's Cut does is remove stuff.

* Figure Drawing - The DC removes a line where their teacher says he's about to teach a class on Aroma Therapy. Three or four lines are then cut after B&B rearrange the letters on the sign. Several other dialogue cuts throughout. No additions.

* Held Back - The DC removes the lines "This desk is giving me a stiffy" and "I don't even have room for a stiffy".

* Tainted Meat - The DC removes a bit from the middle of a news broadcast talking about "a fierce new parasite" in regards to Beavis making everyone sick at Burger World.

Gives a new meaning to "Director's Cut" doesn't it?

Note that the first report for the B&B DVD said that the director's cuts will be "different from orignal broadcast, but not necessarily longer".

I can kind of understand the copyright issue with including the videos, but not these other edits.

Don't buy cut up crap like this.

Aw weak man. I might actually take mine back then and exchange it for something else. That just blows. Oddly enough the cut out bit for tainted meat is on the disc but it's hidden on the main menu. WTF?

Yeah it sucks man. If possible I'd recommend the six Time Life DVD's (not sure if they are still in print though), as they contain the majority of the best episodes and are uncut I think. The only problem is that they don't have any extras at all, and no music videos, but in a way that's not such a bad thing.

What really irks me though is that they don't seem to want to just release the whole friggin series... even though I have these Time Life DVD's already I would happily buy them if they released each series as a seperate box set so I could have the complete set

I just got the Mike Judge collection a few days ago. I was able to get it for free so i can't complain. B&B has always kicked ass. Definately better then King of the Hill imo.

I'm ready for a new Mike Judge created Live Action Comedy.

He should resurrect B&B... even if it was just for a new movie or something.
