 The March discussions will cover anime that suck ;D (or not?). I personally hate yugioh a lot because it feels like a horrible rehash of the already sucky cash cow anime pokemon. That and add to the fact the shitty "americanized" version is always on tv here. Should you have the misfortune of seeing this on tv you'll probably go WTF since the duels just pull random crap out of nowhere. |

I have to agree with you dude, they need to stop the whole "Let's make an anime using a bloody silly game" e.g. YuGiOh and just as poo, Duel Masters & Bayblade. They are really boring and pretty pointless, plus the "fights" (heh heh yeah right) seem to drag on longer than the average Dragon Ball Z final fight lasts but with even more posturing dam it. Of course, the YuGiOh anime and manga BEFORE Duel Monsters was pretty good. I liked it when Yugi played a small "game" with an escaped convict and burned him with Russian vodka.  |

Viz has the first few graphic novels published. It's always good when Yugi owns everyone in minor or brutal methods (playing "air hockey" where the loser gets a face full of explosives).  |

Original Yugioh anime and manga gave more of a rurouken-ish feel because the music was more epic. also, they killed the first 30 episodes of the anime which ruined the story quite a bit. Also, 4Kids killed the volience =(

, he should leave Anime/manga job to his wife... Inuyasha is very respectable, much more Ranma /12, but YuGiOh?? gawd i HATE it...
why??
1. Blocky artstyle, every thing seems so sharp and pointy..., it beats DBZ for Sharpest Hair in anime... and cmon? Rectangle eyes??! geezz
2. CashCow, nuff siad, kids love this stuff, card collecting, games, merchendise... blech...
3. For being said to be influnced by Araki (JoJo's Bizarre Adv), well, it's kinda obvious, Yugi (in school uni) looks like Joe jostar, uniformwise... it's not worth t to be related to JoJo series..
4. FInally, my sister loves this stuff, she "DUEL" with her friends almost everyday in school, and damn, she spends lots of money on those cards... not wise imo...

this anime is so damned corny and funny (in a bad way). my lil bro watches this everyday, yet i can't bring myself to watch it for a few seconds.
this reminds me of something kinda off-topic... had a schoolmate last year who's the same age as me (18) who likes this anime so much all he does is quote the characters, check out yugi-oh websites, repeatedly (as in the whole hour...) plays the anime's opening/closing song LOUD ( it's very annoying at times), and wear clothes similar to the characters in the anime. it's hard to be friends with the guy, since he can't really blend in well with any teen crowd! i try to be friendly with the guy so that people won't tease the guy so much (my reputation makes anyone from where i was he be immune of teasing or harm) he may be in college but his mom or sitter still picks him up from school, and someone has to tell him it's classtime since he gets easily hooked to the yugi-oh sites he checks out.
back to the topic, the only thing i find amusing in this series are the kids (or the guy i mentioned above) who like the show so much they now talk like the show's characters in regular conversations... and you know how messed up and corny that sounds ;D

That's pretty sad really. I know people like that myself, but what can you do?  Having aid that, I'm addicted to certain things; for instance I must admit I check the Liverpool FC site probably 5 or 6 times a day, maybe more when I'm at work and bored, just to see if there's any new updates and to go on the forum... but even I know when to tear myself away. Same goes for this forum, but again I have gone for days without coming back here when I have important real life duties to attend to. It's when the line between fantasy and reality blurs that it becomes a problem for many people... Kaz |
