I heard some things regarding the actual ending of the series... It's highly possible that the rumors are false but (possible spoiler), I heard that Fuu never finds the sunflower samurai... Still, now we have even more reason to watch, to see if I'm right. I'm doubting it more and more though, as I can't seem to find corraborating information elsewhere. That's kind of watanabe's style though: kind of sparse story, but the real substance is in the depth and detail of characters. Watanabe gave Bebop a nice big finale and he more or less tied up any loose knots plotwise imo.

I don't know about tying everything up in CB. More like it all fell apart. But it kind of went with the type of relationship everyone on the Bebop shared. Think about it though:
- Ed (Francoise) and Ein had left a while back, whatever happened to them? - Faye and Jet stick around in the Bebop, but when you think about it, they probably won't stick together.
The only things that were resolved were that Vicious, Spike, and Julia all died. But it was an excellent ending... IMHO.

It was a conveniant way for Ed to leave the picture and not get involved with the series finale. The only real reason I believe Faye stayed with Jet is that conversation she had in the Bebop with him about Julia... There was just something about it. Then of course like you said the whole matter with Vicious, Spike, and Julia was sorted out. I still find it funny he died from just that when he survived even worse in Ballad of Fallen Angels.
