I haven't been able to get into "fanservice" anime lately. Until I stumbled across Elfen Lied. It's violence, dark, horror, disturbing, serious, action and fanservice all in one anime! I only saw 5 episodes of this new anime and it takes your breath away with each episode. And this anime is VIOLENT. REALLY VIOLENT. Peoples arms/heads/torso's getting ripped off and more of that...in full motion. But the story isn't bad at all. I'm just loving the disturbing theme and I get sucked in more and more I watch it.

Oh and it's licensed due to it's extreme violence. But there are enough fansub groups who are still subbing this.

Extremely violent indeed, although I still would have liked some of the more violent scenes to have a couple of extra frames.

Elfen Lied is currently my fav anime up there with Madlax. ELFEN LIED IS SWALLOWING ME WITH EVERY EPISODE

Man it's been awhile since this topic was made. Just bought and watched the whole series myself. I avoided this for awhile since I'm really not into dark anime but for some reason I gave it a shot. It's now definitly one of my favorites for entertaining me so much despite it's sheer violence.

Elfen Lied is a great show, the ending was a little disappointing, but I liked it. (NEEDS A SEQUEL/SEASON 2) Guess i'll check out the manga anytime soon.

Funny fact : the mangaka of Elfen Lied is a female (Lynn Okamoto) didn't expect that huh?

lol Indeed. Although the romantic elements of the series remind me of stuff other female creators have made.
