Sample footage will be presented to prospective buyers at this spring's MIPTV conference in Cannes, France. Production on the first episode is expected to be completed this summer. Samurai 7 is a sci-fi re-make of Akira Kurosawa's classic 1594 film The Seven Samurai. The production budget for the anime is reportedly close to $300,000 per episode, three times the production cost of current big-budget TV anime such as Gunslinger Girl." $300,000 per episode...

Seven Samurai by Akira Korusawa, one of my fav movies of all time. The game (Seven Samurai 20XX for the PS2) was pretty cool too, but the futuristic timeline really didn't fit the samurai genre IMO. But still curious about the anime of course.
