So, contemplating all the talk over God Hand lately had me thinking about all the good times i had playing Beat Em Up games through my life and the key developers of the most successful ones.
So of course a poll had to be created to decide who is the greatest. I hope i'm not forgetting anyone here. I added devs. of newer Beat Em Ups because of their popular games though i wouldn't quite call them key devs. (they deserve a slot reguardless)

Double Dragon series. It's still my favorite beat-em-up because of nostalgia of playing it with my dad. Godhabd is a close second cu'z it's the modern materialization of awesome beat-em-ups back in the day.

Other. I'd have to say Cadillacs vs Dinosaurs for old times sakes, but probably AvP as overall the best beat 'em up. Streets of Rage/Golden Axe/Final FIght are all great too.
As for newer beat 'em ups, I do like DYnasty Warriors a lot, although so many of those games have been released now that I kinda lost track, and I don't think any of the newest ones offer anything particularly new or different to make me want to play them much.

Going with other. I prefer The Punisher, AVP, and Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. Oh yeah that arcade punisher is badass! I've been plunking tokens on that game every time I go to the mall

Capcom gets my vote. Not so much for just Final Fight but for The Punisher, AvP, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs and Dungeons and Dragons. So many 20p's went into those games in my youth. Capcom have so got to release a collection of these,
Honourable mention must go to Streets of Rage though. SoR2 is still the one of the best of it's genre - and there's never been such a good scrolling fighter exclusively made for any home system imo. 'tis the Daddy indeed.
I still must play Godhand though - looks like fun.

One beat-em up I remember vividly playing back in the days at the arcade was Growl by Tatio. It's most prominent feature was the hordes of baddies that crowded the playing field at any given time. Not just five or six of them, but literally a swarm of up to two dozen thugs. The most funest part I loved about it was when a slew of bad guys approached you and miraculously managing to take them all out unscathed. Aside of the cheesy environmental theme to it, it was probably one of the most unique fighters I've played for its time.
I remember Growl being ported to the Sega Genesis, but I'm not sure how good of a job they did at it.

Yay, Streets of Rage love.
I find it interesting that Sega didn't make new a SoR game for the DC.

Funny that I didn't remember sooner, but konami also had some pretty good beat 'em ups back in the day.
I think I played those more than the above titles.

SOR is probably the best one you have listed.
I played Bad Dudes and Double Dragon quite a bit too.
