I've hear that "losing around $240 for every console they make that sells" thing for PS3 before, and I'm thinking that they should've just made an inexpensive version of the console w/o the blu-ray (like the 2 versions of Xbox 360). I surely won't camp out for a console that sells for nearly twice my paycheck nor would I buy it anytime sooner Wii wiill eventually get my game money sooner or later

Affordability is a huge deal if you ask me and the wii is just so much more so right now.

well, what else is sony to do, release a system that only a limited few can afford? (...well a more limited few can afford, that is) and wait a second, neo geo fans interested in console price? I think I may be broken...
especially given that aes's launch price was more than ps3's full cost (fixed for inflation).
the thing that irks me is that these new systems have such short life spans. I'd spend a ton on a system if the parent company would just promise their complete gaming attention for the next 10 years. I think we're barely getting five years now, and sometimes not even that. it might be a more useful angle for sony to attack on affordability then simply taking a huge hit on the hardware.

You definitely have a point. The neo did last a whole lot of years longer while today's consoles (after PSone) last for only a few years due to the growing market... Consoles are starting to feel like computers in a sense that they easily becomes obsolete in a few months/years time, so the battle now is the efficiency of both price+longetivity/enjoyment (#@$!ing math ;D )

An AES console is different as far as I'm concerned because it's an console that plays arcade perfect games and is also sought after by collectors. It should be fairly expensive.
