The controller has been modified so the white and black buttons are in the back along with the L and R buttons so it resembles the PS2 controller.

Yikes, that's pretty crap... perhaps unavoidable, but still lame. I guess that's even less room left on my TV unit them, seeing as I'll have to keep the Xbox hooked up . Someone on that site put it best in the comments: Kaz

Yeah but alot of people still play older games for Xbox / Xbox Live like Halo 2, Counter Strike, Street Fighter, ect ect. I thought this was going to happen to either the PS3 or X360 just wasnt sure which one. So basically the X360 isnt the Xbox 2 its a brand new console...has to be if it cant play the old Xbox games which means you cant play your old xbox games on your Xbox live account...which means your gonna have to keep one Xbox Live account on your original Xbox and spend £40 on a brand new one for your X360? Hmm very weird

Very true. This isn't a very sound move on M$'s part imo. Especially considering the revolution and ps3 both sport reverse compatibility.

Xbox 360 looks more stylish than ps3 imo. i expect that it will be a though fight between during console wars.

Contrary to what you thought, the Xbox 360 will not be released in a basic package like you first thought. Microsoft is now releasing the system in two different packages. One for $300, the other for $400. Here's the lowdown.
Core System $300
The cheaper pack comes with an Xbox 360 system with no hardrive, an Xbox Live Silver card, One wired controller and an standard AV Cable. Good news is the hardrive can still be purchased for the system (It can be attached to the top of the system). The bad news is it cost $100 bucks. One more thing to note is that without the hard drive, you can't play Xbox 1 games or MMORPGs. Going online also requires either a hard drive or a memory card ($40). Sucks eh?
Premium Package $400
The premium kit comes with all the above mentioned items but also comes with a couple other things. Shedding an extra $100 gets you the Media Remote ($30 sold separetly), a wireless controller ($50 sold separetly), a Component HD AV Cable ($40 sold separetly), a headset ($20 sold separetly) and the attachable hard drive. Not a bad deal I guess. Still, the Xbox 1 shipped with a hardrive at $300, so the core system should have a sensible price of say, $200? I commend Microsoft for their bravery, though. Trying something like this might end up biting you in the ass.
Also, the Xbox 360 won't be shipping with a new Halo anytime soon. Instead, Perfect Dark Zero will be taking up the helm. Keep in mind though, Microsoft hasn't commented wether the launch titles will be ready in time for day one. So you might come home with nothing on launch day.

well, there are always gonna be people who think there's is faulty. which is normal. if you produce 100s of 1000s of any electrical product.
what it all comes down to (on any system), is games.
and that's why this site isn't called atarijaguarforlife.com.
specs, etc don't really matter. i thnk the biggest problem the 360 will have is multiformat publishers. as many now publish lazy ps2 ports on xbox 1, how much effort are publishers going to put into 360 versions of their triple A title, when ps2 has 10 times as many owners? obviously the exclusives will look good, but what about the likes of King Kong, etc? will they just be xbox 1 standard graphics, with a higher price tag?
i'm sure microsoft will support it regardless of success/failure. but sadly, the real determining factor in whether a console succeeds or not, is down to how many people are willing to take the gamble on a console?
as ever, time will tell.....

If I remember right a lot of the earliest x-boxes were crap and became faulty with use. I kinda wish sony and M$ didn't use their customers as the model 1 test team

I wonder if it'll be like the Xbox 1 in the UK when they cut the price by £100 only 6 weeks after the initial launch. I'm sure that many early adopters were pretty angry at that one. I'm sure that many current Xbox owners will also be upset that their console is being left out in some multiformat releases in favour of the new boy as well.
The Xbox (1) still has plenty of power to offer. It seems like a pramature end for the original.

Not many people are impressed by it. The pad is better. Xbox live is alot better but not everyone has that.
Ive played:
PGR3: Nice graphics but just seems too slow. Perfect Dark: Wasnt impressed at all. Easy to complete. Call of Duty 2: Was very impressed but mainly because I hadnt played COD before. Oblivion: Looks entertaining but too much happening. 3rd person mode is horrible. Quake 4: Feels, Looks, Moves exactly the same as Doom 3.
Its a smart console but no way would I spend that much on them and no way would I pay £50 a game.
