OK Campers, After reading alot of the posts here over the last few days..and doing some experimentation of my own...I have discovered something.(which you all may be aware of already and I apologize if this seems redundant) I DLd the latest ver of MAME32 and too my shock and horror..every game I played with the exception of punchout!!! played incredibly slow..and the sound was very choppy and echoed alot. I tried everything I could think of startup and taskbarwise and alas...still played slow with very poor sound. I have seen posts in regards to bad dumps or incomplete dumps or the roms being WIP, so far the solution I have tried seems to be working. To those of us who are still DOS savvy try using the command line ver of mame(I used Fastmame due to it being geared up for cps2 and cps3 games) so far every rom I have tried is working up to speed with perfect sound. To make things a little easier around the command line(typing 3-4 lines of text to start a game is a little upsurd)use a front end program of which there are hundreds to choose from. Now this solution could only be for my specific issues but I figured I would share either way and maybe get some feedback from anyone else who has tried or is willing to try the CMD line version of mame. Peace and Hairgrease, Eric

Sry to let you down son_jason, be cps3 has not been "decoded" yet. The encryption is so complex that no one has been able to crack it. Some people estimate that it could happen in a few years, but again this is just an estimate. So unfortunately no Third Strike or Warzard (at least for a bit). shikyohjubei: I'm really surprised that you got faster speeds out of conventional mame. When I was using Mame32 I got a large increase in speed. However, seeing as I was running it in a very small window, this may account for the differences. I know what you mean about the MSDOS prompt. I had mame for the longest time on my desktop. Using windows 2000 it was something like "cd documents and settings -> cd Administrator -> cd Desktop -> cd mame". Argh! Didn't take long for me to move it directly to C:\. Sometimes, you don't even need frontends. Some versions of Mame include a GUI. MAME32 for example does. I am using Mame Plus! for my cab right now though because it lets you play later games (SVC. Chaos etc.) that normally wouldn't be supported. I'm running a PIII 733 socket processor with 190 mb RAM and it works well (included SVC Chaos.) but this is with windows 98. Some frontends include: MameWah (fairly popular, great for arcade cabs) mamewah.mameworld.net/MaLa (again great for cabs and it has some very nice graphical possiblities) mala.arcadezentrum.com/ArcadeOS (used almost exclusively for cabs, DOS oriented and graphics resemble Dos) www.mameworld.net/pc2jamma/frontend.htmlI only have experience on the above three and I find that they are very good. I've heard AtomicFE is great and it's got soem animated menus too. www.atomicfe.com/EN2/For a larger listing of frontends try here: www.zophar.net/frontends/mame.html-Drew

Well,
In my rush to get Mame on this computer...I completely forgot that the processor is an AMD cpu....used the AMD optimized ver. and all is well. Managed to cut my right hand wide open a few days ago which required a trip to the ER needless to say my gaming has been put on hold till it heals...gonna make this post short as it hurts to type..
