Yeah that thing looks pretty awesome, I might think about getting one when the homebrew scene really kicks in for it. There's no actual Neo Geo emu yet though right?
Playing Xvid on the go would be nice though for sure...

My GP2X just arrived today. ^_^ That being said, I did some checking and... www.talfi.net/gp32_franxis/: Mame GP2X 1.5 supports almost all of the NeoGeo games now m.peponas.free.fr/gngeo/: check the January 14 entry. GnGeo goes GP2X and is up for download First thing I'm going to stuff on my GP2X is Beats of Rage though.

My mate recently purchased a GP2X. I'm very impressed with the actual machine. He's got the GnGeo emulator working and even at this early stage it's very good. It can be a bit choppy at times but overclocking can help this out. Give the guys time and I'm sure they'll get 95% of the games running perfectly.
The only problem with the machine is the D-stick thing. The 4 face buttons are small but perfectly useable, but the D-stick is a bit shit tbh. It might just take getting used to, but it did feel odd, especially after using a NeoCD pad.
He's also managed to get a couple of CPS-1 games running, Captain Commando was one of them. Give the system some time and it'll just get better. Apparently CPS-2 emulation is possible. Portable Alien Vs Predator and Progear would be good.

Heres hoping for SS5 or the newer metal slug games will work on it soon. Can't wait to be motivated enough to order one.

Questions: Can this thing read DVD's and/or DVD-R's and CD-R's? There was an auction on Ebay for one of these and the seller was including a DVD-R filled with games and emulators.
If it can read a DVD-R wouldn't it be likely that one of the modding groups out there would come out with some sort of DVD program to be able to play a regular DVD in the machine?
That, and the only other thing preventing me from picking this up is the price and lack of an AC adapter. Though, if the price is lowered to a steal I'll just invest in rechargeable Double AA's. ;D

One other thing, is this thing capable of emulating N64 and PSone games? I would assume not for the moment, but is there even any progress being made on that front?

Stupid me, I didn't see that an AC adapter was being sold separately.
The XGP looks interesting; the way I see it I'd rather pay $100 more for something that will do everything as opposed to the GP2X that will do almost everything. My philosophy anyway, both look like great machines though.

Jeez, no one's interested in answering my questions, eh? en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XGPLooking at the graphics and capabilities of the XGP, I wouldn't be at all surprised if it could play PS2 games... That is emulation takes off. I've yet to find a site that deals with even Dreamcast roms, which is odd considering that N64 roms are everywhere.

Torant!
And as long as the hardware you're running from is 10x more faster than the hardware being emulated then it is entirely possible.
And regarding the cd full of stuff, well you probably can just transfer it from your computer to the GPX, something that small would run out of batteries instantly if it had a dvd drive.

I was sort of wondering if someone would ever expand the origional GP32 to become something decent ,looks like its well on its way to being just that. I may have to import one of these to fool with.

I'm considering it now... it's less than £100, so when I have some spare cash at some point I may have to invest in one. How good are the SNES and Megadrive emulators... and the Neo Geo ones?
