In case you didn't read my previous post, this thread should be used for discussing your likes/dislikes on this game. Tell everyone what YOU think makes this game so great, or maybe even what makes it bad. Just be honest, and please try to keep this thing on topic

This thread is really just for fun, but I also plan on quoting peoples comments in the reviews on the main site. I will add a small box at the bottom of each review for this information, as I think it is always nice to hear what other people think about a game (and not just the opinion of the reviews author). I will be posting more topics like this in the future - every now and then I will randomly pick a game for us to talk about... or maybe have a vote on the next game to discuss. Tell me what you think

Anyway, I'll get this topic started off! I love Kizuna Encounter, although unfortunately I don't currently have the MVS cart. It's actually quite funny, as I do already own the totally inferior prequel, Savage Reign (I have the full MVS kit in fact ). Considering how mediocre SR was, when I actually played Kizuna Encounter I was very surprised at how much fun it is to play. It is also one of only two tag team fighters available on the Neo Geo (RotD being the other). The character roster is also quite decent, with a few notable exceptions... it's still an improvement on Savage Reign, whichever way you look at it

The only two things that I REALLY dislike about this game are the final boss (King Lion) who is probably one of the hardest and cheapest bosses in any fighting game I have ever played, and also the price of the home cart. The home cart is very rare, so if you ever find a copy for sale, the price will most likely be very high - ridiculously so if you actually found an English language copy (this tends to sell for more than $1000 in fact). Because of this, the MVS cart is the only way to go if you really want to play this game properly without breaking the bank

Ok, that's all I can think of for now (will post a bit more later) as I haven't played the game in a while and don't have the cart handy right now. So, now post your thoughts on this game, and let's get some good discussion going

So here's my thought on Kizuna encounter.

I love the game.
It's simple gameplay at it's best.
The moves aren't hard to pull of and even novice players can get into the gameplay and the movemotions very easy.
The tagoption is very well used as you can not tag everywere on the field but only at the spot that's marked cos that's the spot closest to your tagpartner.

The grafics are very colorfull and the characterdesign is very nice on most players,also the artwork is pretty cool.The fact that together with Art of fighting these are some of the larger sprites used on a 1 on 1 beat em up make Kizuna encounter a wonderfull game to look at even when you're not playing.

Soundeffects are OK but nothing special.Same goes for the music.But the voices fit the characters perfect and non disturb me,they all sound great ;D

A must play title that i still enjoy to play from time to time,even if it's just to play with Kim Kaphwan's relative Kim Young-Mok who is a must play cool character that almost wins it from Kaphwan in the coolness department.To bad he never got used as a playable charater ever again but only as a guest appearence as striker on King of fighters 2000.

Agreed on the character designs... Joker is probably the worst. At least it doesn't have most of the really bad ones from Savage Reign... we can be thankful for that

Yeah..there are some exceptions,Joker being the main target there.

But in overall i like the large anime-ish style of the characters,they look very detailed for their sizes(clothes, muscles, etc).
Rosa,Kim,Hayato,Eagle,Gozu,Mezo and Lion king look very anime-ish and making up for the other mess-ups ;D
Don't forget the characters got that cartoonish superhero look on purpose...continueing on the style from savage reign and i think they got away with keeping the same characters but making them look far better than in Savage Reign.

Yeah, some of them are great like Rosa and Kim, but others are not too great (but it doesn't hurt the game too much). At least they ditched characters like Carol from SR, who was a horrible design.

For some strange reason, I actually feel like playing SR right now... I think I will do when I get home

I think, for the 2d-Fighting Game Graphic Standards in 1996, (horrible thing!!!), this Game was good. I especially like the Tag Team- Gameplay!

If this Game would be released again with new Graphics and a more fluent Gameplay, that Game would really rock!!!

I like the graphics, big, thick, exagerrated arcade sprites, like the players in Baseball Stars 2. I like the colours too. I like the character designs, to me odd doesn't equal bad. The tag feature is good. I like most games with sf2 type control. If that control is there and precise there's a 99% probability that I'll like the game.
I don't remember the last time I was critical about a Neo Game, you either like the game concepts or not, mostly I think neo games are perfect examples of their genres.
The last boss is difficult. Another good neo game.

It's ok,

it didn't blow my mind when I played it, but it was an INCREDIBLE improvement over SR. The Tag Team feature was the back bone of the game as it really wasn't very innovative, but it looks good, plays well, and is fun enough to warrant a purchase or maybe even a port to another system.

Kizuna is one of the few Neo games I have never played so I really cant say too much about it.

It looks like it would be a pretty fun game.

You never played it?? Dude, seriously, go give it a try It's a fun game, but not really fun enough to warrant paying the price for the home cart... but then again, no game is

Try "teh r0mz" or something just to give it a test, and then buy the MVS cart

cool concept at that time, has a nice combo system, but the char designs were very crappy except for rosa and that kim kaphwan look-a-like ( the guy wit a stick)

i play it a few time, but i got bored, this is not my type of game to be honest, and i hated that there is only a specific spot where you can tag, too much hassle.

but id reccomend this for neo fans,

Anyway, I have the english language home cart. And King Lion isn't that bad, compared to the guy who comes after him.

I wish the story had been elaborated on a bit, the cut scenes were a bit confusing.

I really really like the engine and the playability of this game. Especially with a speed setting, this game plays much faster than KOF, especially with the new tag feature.

What I don't like are the designs of every character with the exceptions of King Lion (because he is so ridiculously funny and powerful) Kim, and Rosa.
