I have it and will post some brief impressions of the game soon. All I can say right now is that it seems pretty cool. Graphically it looks good, it's basically the same as the Neo Geo version, although the projectiles have been spruced up a bit and the presentation changed. Gameplay wise I'm not sure how much is different (other than the Power Instinct characters that were added), but the game does play pretty damn well. I had a brief look through the disc and managed to rip the music from the new sub bosses stage (Bobby). Check the jukebox page to hear it: neogeoforlife.com/jukebox.phpI also noticed that the music for the Rage of the Dragons characters is on the disc, so it possibly means that they are still in the game, unless they are used for some other purpose. I guess we'll find out soon enough... I'm still hoping there are some secret characters that can be enabled. Any questions about the game please ask Kaz

Argh haven't gotten my copy yet. Have you tried the old code to unlock the ROTD characters Kaz?

Tried it earlier, didn't work - however there seems to be an extra mode called card collection. You earn points by completing the game, and those points can be spent on buying cards that do various things. The first few I bought could be enabled in practice mode (and probably vs mode although I haven't tried that yet), and they changed your characters sprite. One of them seemed to change hair colour, while the other made them look zombie-fied. Some of the later ones unlock stages (so you can look at them and listen to the music), and I'm guessing that the really expensive cards unlock chatacters.... there were four cards that I noticed that were labelled B1, B2, B3 and B4, so I'm guessing that stands for "backstage". I wonder if this will uncover the ROTD characters, some other characters, or something else entirely? I completed the game for the first time earlier, and it seems Bobby is actually the final boss. I beat him and Princess Sissy appeared on stage, said a few words and then Reiji's ending appeared. I have no idea what was going on though as it was all in Japanese... no idea if you can actually fight Sissy or not... Kaz ps Bobby is a cheap s**t... funny though!

That sounds awesome. I'd still have a hard time believing they took anything out of the game though when it appears to really be an upgrade.

Actually I was tired last night... I realised the more expensive cards are actually labelled B-04-B-07, and there's some cheaper cards that are labelled B-01-B-03, so the "backstage" thing that I said is probably totally wrong. I still think that some of the expensive cards must unlock characters though, but guess I'll find out soon... Dammit - forgot to turn on autosave yesterday so I lost the points I had already earnt. Ah well, nevermind edit: just going through mission mode and I got to fight Sissy in one of them, so she is definitely playable... also, it seems you have to unlock many of the cards through mission mode, so although I now have enough points to buy many of them, it won't let me yet edit 2: Just installed it on my hard drive - for those with HD Loader or similar, it seems to work fine without any modes switched on. Loading times are fast from the disc anyway, but slightly faster on the HD. Good stuff! Kaz

You're welcome OK just got down to the last couple of B missions, I unlocked one of those B cards... turned out to be a bizarre rendered music video featuring Chinnen's stage music (and the monks and girl from that stage). Interesting Edit: God I'm gonna break my stick in a minute... the second last B mission wants you to draw the fight... how the hell they expect you to do that with any kind of accuracy is beyond me! This may take a while... edit: actually scratch that... I just TOTALLY fluked it with Clara. Woot! ;D Kaz

So apparently they've fucked my 2 favorite characters (Kanji & the guy in the Dog Outfit) to the point of being unplayable imo. I can only wonder why they didn't just let the player choose the new versions of each character separately. Having to change my control scheme in the middle of a battle is rediculous. Atleast in Mortal Kombat it was done with a move.
I like the MVS/AES version better so far.

Yea, and as I said above daaren, I'm sure you'll be pleased to know it works great on HDLoader! ;D Raiken: you mean the draw game thing? Yeah, it is NASTY! Someone on neo-geo.com fluked it because he fought Bobby and there's a way to make him do his projectile repeatedly... which doesn't travel full screen, so you take no damage and end up with a draw game with two full energy bars. My way was harder, but I let Anny take my life bar the entire way down almost, then I kicked her ass in the last 10 seconds to even it up... took me a good few goes to get it right but it worked eventually! Goemon: I'm hoping that their standard versions are unlockable or something, although I'm starting to doubt it. There must be SOMETHING in the way of unlockable characters though...? I really hope so! Kaz

So I have to ask, is this a must have? It looks pretty cool, but if it's a middle of the road fighter rather than something great, I'll probably pass...

It's well worth it. This is one of the coolest fighters on the neo imo and has an awesome soundtrack.

Anyone else notice the controls locking up sometimes when moving from a block to dp? For some reason i'm having more issues with the controls in this game then any port i've ever played. Also the game has frozen on me a couple times when fighting Bobby.
