...but what's the most you've spent on something (neo geo or otherwise) to end up regretting? mine would probably be metal slug 3 on AES for £200 plus postage. 6 months later, ignition release perfect port at 20 quid...
(damn thing doesn't even have long loading times... )
mind you, my boss spent £600+ on a jap dreamcast with games on launch day.

I don't think I've ever REALLY regretted a purchase to be honest, although me and my bro did come VERY close to purchasing an American import Atari Jaguar for about £400, and considering I was still at school at the time, it would have taken a long time for me to pay for it . I still thank God that I dodged that landmine! I have spent some big money on Neo Geo games like Matrimelee MVS, but thankfully I never regretted any of them, and in many cases I either sold them for a tiny profit or only lost a little, but obviously I got plenty of use out of them so it was ok. ^same with kaz, every purchare for me was worth it... especially NEO stuff... well, for the NEO, the only thing i regret "buying" (it was a trading deal actually) was AOF2, for the AES.. heck, i dont even have an AES! (MVS-lover here, me loves the big red!), i regret it in a way that i pretty much ahve no use for it... hehe... but there are also some regretable ones... for instance... well im building up my JPN DC collection (i have almost 70 games now), i bought SuperRobotWarsAlpha for a freakin $60, at amazon.. but few days later, i found an EBay deal which sells it for only $15!! and it in the same mint state.... and i bought Virtual-ON:OT for $90, but that didn't hurt me as for the most spent, which is NON-NEO.. i would say that it woudl be my dreamcast stuff, i have 3 units, lots of games, lots of accesories (including the Maracass for Samba de Amigo!), in total, i think is spent almost $700 jsut on DC stuff... BUT AGAIN, i DO NOT REGRET BUYING them

Can't say I have any regrets either. What few games I bought I didn't like I sold back. I spent $400 on my mint condition modded AES system which friggin rocks. The most I ever spent for a game was probably $93.50 for Gundam Wing Endless Duel for Super Famicom(usually goes for around $400 on ebay so it was a steal). I love that game.

$93.50 for Gundam Wing Endless Duel for Super Famicom sorry for this (if ever), but they sell this for a lousy $10 (around that price) in various "videogame" junk shops in Japan... hehe, the "hype" kinda makes it overpriced..

i know what you mean. i think there comes a point in neo collecting/gaming where the money isn't really an issue. i still have metal slug 3 (along with 1 through 5, bar X). and providing it's something you'll still play, you only really "lose" on it, as and when you sell it. but there were one or two instances where i paid over the odds. but that's because i didn't do my homework, and am too AES enthusiastic!!!! :-D

Hmmm ... if you get what you want, you get what you want... you'll prolly only ever regret something you forgot to bid on/didn't buy/just missed rather than something you bought. Shove cash into games that you like... its worth it. So says the boy who just about to go into neogeo stuff

Shove cash into games that you like... its worth it. So says the boy who just about to go into neogeo stuff Well said that lad! Seriously I get really freaking annoyed with some people on other forums complaining that people pay to much for a certain video gaming item and that they should stop doing so, I mean why? I'm not a wealthy person but I reckoned the fact that if I really want something there are no half measures and if "that" person is not prepared to pay for the privilege of owning that particular item then obviously they don't want it as much as the person that eventually brought it and you know what I know this may not ring true in a one hundered percent of the time but at least that person is more the likely going to enjoy it more than the person whining because they have to stick to playing the game on EMU. Please note that I know that's not true with every neogeo buyer and that some people just buy consoles to sell them on or just to collect them.Anyway I really enjoying my current purchase, and yes it was worth £250 of my money and I was will to pay more for the privilege of owning it also because it was my video gaming ambition to own a NeoGeo... and now I have one! P.S: That mat of come off a bit strong guys and I'm very sorry but I get fed up but this is supposed to encourage people to go out and buy what their hearts desire... of and gray good luck dude on getting a neo!

dude, my aes collection is worth about 10 times more than your naff 2 slot + wank games. i was trying to start a topic about buying games without playing them first ie "why the hell did i just waste 50 quid on 'so-and-so'...", or the rpg you bought, never got past the intro, and left on the shelf for 2 years, etc.
i got into snk stuff through motw on dc, and never looked back. i'm only really after matrimelee and maybe money idol exchanger conversion.

Hey jpj .. ah forget man I'm sorry I was replaying to the dude posted after you. I was not bragging (that would be silly because I know people have bigger collections than me on this board, I've just started mine) and in fact it wasn't directed to anyone one on this board but oh well. (and yes I'm aware the AES costs more thats why I went MVS lol) Yeah I got MOTW on the DC but unfortunatly it's the US version which directly reads of the CD for all sounds. I personaly got into playing SNK stuff VIA the arcade but the first ever SNK. Oh game I owned was Ikari Warriors on the Atrai ST which was totaly bitchin', then I pruchased the Saturn and brought the NGPC and then a DC which resulted in some SNK purchases and yes I didn't just buy them for the SNK stuff (well maybe not true for the NGPC anyway!). Yeah I guess thats another reason why MAME is a good try before you buy tool I guess but were are quite lucky over here in the UK because the main retailer for games here (GAME) lets you take back the game within 10 days if your not happy with it for any reason, it's juts a shame they don;t stock AES stuff eh? Oh yeah and if you like idol exchanger conversion you might want to try Magical Drop 3, it's a similar game but you might want to try it on MAME before you go head first and buy it.

sorry danny; it's good to see more folk on here from the UK! i now own aes motw, which is veeeeeery nice. i've got magical drop 3, and 2, just looking to finish off the puzzle collection. i've now got about 20-30 AES games, and consolized 4slot with about the 15-20 games. but while mvs is cheaper, no specialist stores or online retailers really stock it (not even GAME!), so you have to resort to evilbay... oh, and thanks for the heads-up on groove fight.

Well for all of you whom live in the south of england you should check these guys out since they stock both MVS and AES stuff although they are a bit on the pricey side at least you know were to go if the item you just purchased just broke heh.

yeah, they're alright. videogameimports.com are much better, even tho they don't have an actual store as well. but VGI have got millions of import retro games. if you want something, they've probably got it!
