Hi everyone,
I;ve been looking into getting an aes system. but after looking around ebay i have a few questions. i've seen us and japanese import aes's for sale. is there a difference between them? also i've seen import games carts, can a us aes play the import carts as well as us releases?
Thanks for the help
Brian

Welcome to the forums! There isn't much difference, but the thing to remember is that all Neo games will work on any system, as there are no regional lock outs... however, if you play an English game on a Japanese system, you will get Japanese text, as the language it is displayed in is set by the consoles bios and not the game itself. It works the other way around though - a Japanese game will display English text if it is played on an English system. The only exceptions to this rule are the quiz and Mahjong games, as they are Japanese text only. You can also get your Neo Geo upgraded with a uni-bios or similar... it is difficult to do on an AES, but if you can find someone who will fit one for you it is more than worth it, because this will let you change language, and also switch between arcade and home console mode, amongst many other things. Something to consider if you buy a Neo Geo for sure! If you need any other help let me know and I'll try to help Kaz

That's about right yeah - there are a few games (like Samurai Shodown 2) where you can input a code to get blood enabled, but on a lot of others you won't be able to turn it on. If possible, I really would suggest getting a uni-bios so you can change the region your system is set to easily... also it allows you to switch to arcade mode, and it is very easy to switch the blood on using the dipswitch settings when in arcade mode. It's hard to install a uni-bios in an AES though as I mentioned above, so the best idea is to either get a qualified electrican to fit it for you, or find someone who is selling a pre-modded AES. Kaz
