I was talking to a friend of mine last night, and he gave me an idea. You know whenever a new SNK related game comes out and everyone scrambles to find a working download link for a video of it? (for instance, the videos of NGBC recently) Well, I could put certain vids up for download on the site, but it would consume shitloads of bandwidth. But... howabout in future I start getting these vids and putting them up for download via a bit torrent tracker? This would be either vids from someone who took them at a loke test or whatever, or if a new PS2 game (or similar) comes out I tend to get them quite early, so I could make high quality videos of it in motion (using a TV in card) for those that want to see them. Bit Torrent would be an ideal way of getting the vids out there, provided we have people around who are willing to seed for a short time . For the people who want to seed right at the start, I could temporarily put the vids in a members access area on the site, and then delete them once those people have downloaded them and started seeding. Good idea/bad idea? Kaz

BT is a great idea since it obviously won't consume your bandwidth.

That's cool man, cheers! So long as we have a handful of people seeding them at least for a few hours, when people start grabbing them we should be ok... provided they also stay on and seed for a while too Now I gotta figure out how to do this... I'm not sure if my host allows bit torrent trackers, even if they do provide legal stuff. I'll figure some way of doing it though! Kaz

Excellent idea imo, especially about making some high quality vids of the ps2 versions of new games.

I checked around at powweb and I know I definitely can't setup a tracker here (on my webspace) under any circumstances. However I should be able to find some other way of doing it on another server, and I'm going to look into it. Whatever happens, I do need to make absolutely sure that whatever torrent tracker we link to contains absolutely no illegal material whatsoever. I know there are other sites out there where I could upload stuff, but we really need to be in control of the one we use to stop there being any problems. I'm going to look at it more closely this weekend Kaz

They would be time sensitive downloads as it were.

Kewl idea... btw, does this only include offical vid releases? (like the one's on SNKP's site?) For the official vids on SNK's site they are easy enough to get as it is I suppose, but it would be the unofficial ones that people record at the loke tests etc that it can sometimes be very hard to find. Also, for the vids of brand new PS2 games, I would probably make them myself once I get a TV input card for the PC Kaz
