TEXT KING OF FIGHTERS 2002 is a play off of kof 98, but this has 6 unlockable characters which are, Shingo, King, Goenitz, Rugal, Orochi Iori, and Geese Howard!
KING OF FIGHTERS 2003 is a revolutionary game with tag teams thrown in....
This is a discusion group idea of these two games, lets talk about it!

I'll keep this short but sweet as I'm not the most advanced player, but KOF 2002 seems to me to be quite a balanced game (obviously it does have its faults though) and a lot of fun to play, and it was great to see KOF return to a more old school style of play with no strikers. KOF 2003 on the other hand was a great step towards doing something different with the series and it finally added some new really worthwhile characters, unlike the fairly useless ones that we've had in the past few years (with a few exceptions of course ). I like the tag team stuff as well, although a lot of KOF purists do loath it Welcome to the forums btw! Kaz

I like them both a fair amount although I feel 2002 is more balanced.

Although 2002 lacks a good story, it stays truer to old school KOF, but with al lot of the newer characters as well. Personally I prefer 2002. 2003 is pretty nice though. Ash (the most publicized new character) is/was kind of overrated though. But I haven't played 2003 in an arcade and 'my friend's' rom is kind of funky (missing some graphics it seems). Still both are really great. Get both if you can

You SHOULDNT really try to compare 2k2 between 2k3, even though both are KOF's, they are somwhat a DIFFERNT game imo, 2k2 was a offshoot of '98, while 2k3 was a first time for SNK, a slightly different , faster, gameply... it's more sensible to compare 2k2 to 98.. by my choice, i choose 2k3 cuz i seem to ahve more fun with it, much like '98, plus Ash rulz

Hmm...well his sister still refers to him as onii-sama which is basically a honorific way of referring to one's older brother.

I really think that the king of fighters 2003 was nicely done. but the part that rubs me up the fact that there is no breaks in between and this means no celbration by the characters except for at the end of the game. ash's two team mates a total bummer, what was neo geo thinking.bottom line the intro is well done especially that it is a remake in sense of that one from 1994.
kof 2002, it does not move me as such, though the trivia, like intros between other characters move. the music on the mexican stage where they have the kof american team at the back thats anice tune. try having blue mary asking "are you ready" against yamazaki. or yuri wih her intro with that music in the baCKROUND IT BLENDS IN NICELY. AND LASTLY RYO'S SPECIAL CHECK WHEN HE FINISHES WITH AN UPPER CUT IN FINISH SLOW MOTION ITS WELL DONE.
