I've decided to listen to the voice of reason (the members of this forum) and settle for buying a cheaper AES game (or games) for about 150€. Here are some of the less expensive games I would like to buy : - King of Fighters '98My favourite KoF, but I think I've played it a little bit too much on the emulators. KoF '98 would still be a good choice though... - King of Fighters '99My current top choice, since it's my 2nd favourite KoF and I've played it MUCH less than '98. The neostore just got a second-hand Japanese copy in great condition for $142, but the arcade shock has brand new Japanese copies for $125. - NAM-1975This is one of the few old Neo Geo games that I would like to own (I already have Sengoku and Blue's Journey). It reminds me of Cabal, which I played like crazy on Commodore 64 many years ago. The neostore has brand new English copies of NAM-1975 for only $32! I'll most likely buy this game because it's dirt cheap. - King of the Monsters 2I like this game a lot for some reason ;D. The neostore has a Japanese copy in great condition for $69. I would like to own an English version of KotM 2 though... - King of Fighters '96This is a great game, but I want to own KoF '99 more... I'm currently thinking about buying KoF '99 & NAM-1975. I might still consider Garou if someone knew where I might get it cheap .

First off:
Purchasing newly released Neo-Geo games is generally not worth the cost unless you have considerable amounts of money to spend, since the Dreamcast/PS2 conversions are more than adequate. Consider that you can probably pick up a Japanese DC with MotW and at least two KOF games in good condition for the same price as one Neo SvC/SSV Special/MotW cart.
SvC is IMO NOT a good representation of either company. In fact, I would say that it is the *worst* big-name 2-D fighting game since... well, the first CvS, and that felt like a half-baked Beta version to begin with. If you want to play it, I suggest you get the PS2 version.
MotW is a much better choice. It is the only Fatal Fury game I do not own the Neo version of, but that only stems from the price. Again, I recommend that you track down the DC version and spend the rest on older Neo titles, like the Real Bout games or KOF '98.
As for SSV Special, I have not played it, but from what I have heard, SSV (which AFAIK will be released for the PS2 on July 29th - in Japan, that is) is just as tremendous a disappointment as SvC. "Try before you buy", say I.

They are both very good games, and i think the are definetly worth the price!! Also "worst since...the first CVS" CVS was a GREAT game!!! How could you say it was bad!! HALF BAKED BETA VERSION! WTF are you talking about? But i do agree that the DC ports of these games are very accurate...maybye even perfect. Akari i wouldn't take his advice. Buying ports is a good alternative... but if you really want these games, i would get them. I have the ps2 version of SVCC and its really good... oh well, just decide for your self ;D ;D ;D

As it's been said before gaming is greatly a matter of opinion.
