Well, we all know SNKP cannot match the greatness of the original SNK during its time, (R.I.P. 2000), but what do your think of SNKP's current state? do your think they have forever disgraced the masterpieces of SNK, and hope that they fall to obscurity?, or you think that they werent that good at the beggining, but then they improved and with current releases and promising future titles (e.g. KOF MI), they might have a shot, or even a greater "career" than SNK had? talk, people
i have ran out of ideas for a thread... and im freakin bored! when will the summer end!

Even though they've certianly done nothing imo other then kof 2k3 (I still haven't played SS0S) that even comes close to the good games of the old snk but i'd still be sad if they gave up the 2d path cause i'd rather see them keep trying at it then loosing the chance of possible great 2d games in the future.
What really disapoints me is how bad kof:nw looks (not graphics wise) after kof 2k3 was so good. Hopefully they bust it out with enough new material in kof2k4 and future games to make atleast buying the console ports worth while.

I can't really decide. If they screw up the first atomiswave title I'm gonna be pissed at it looks like that's gonna happen.

pretty hard to say, but i reckon giving them a chance to tap their full potential is something we should expect for now

i'm not going to vote either...i think they're gradually improving with each release.....it's a bit like they've got to start again with the atomiswave system so if kof:n isn't mind blowing i'll be pretty sure the next release will be better and so on. hullcityfcmad

You have to remember that they did lose a lot of their workers when the old SNK went bankrupt, and it's never really been totally clear how many of the old staff are still remaining at SNKP. If they hired new staff that hadn't worked on Neo stuff before then the games are bound to have a different feel and it takes a while for the new people to get a feel for what they re doing etc etc. I think that they have gradually improved and KOF 2003 was the first TRULY great game SNKP have released (along with Matrimelee from Noise of course) and it certainly seems like KOF MI will be a game worthy of the SNK name (possibly SS0 Special too?)... the jury is still out on the atomiswave stuff though, but I agree with hullcity that hopefully the AW will be great given time. I'd never wish for SNKP to go down the plughole, it's one of the few companies left that provides us with a 2D gaming fix so we have to at least be thankful for that, even if their games have been a bit of a mixed bag . So long as they keep improving then I'll be happy. Kaz

I really enjoy KOF2K3 and SS0 (is Yuki Enterprise the only one that develop it or they both work on this title?). It does seem like they are improving with every subsequent release. I don't really anticipate KOF NW and KOF MI, though I do hope that these titles will do well, to build a reputation among new gamers.
Do you think Playmore should diversify their game lineups? Maybe they can release strategy games or RPG games.

Let's put this in MS terms...
SNK Metal Slug...Good Playmore Metal Slug (4)...Good SNK AND Playmore's Metal Slug (5)...Stay the heck away from each other.
But really, it ain't all that bad.

That one got me confused... SNK *is* SNKP (kind of) and SNKP = Playmore . Also MS4 was actually made by Mega not Playmore... and I gotta say, MS5 was far better (at least imho) even though it wasn't the best MS game by far. Kaz

Do you think Playmore should diversify their game lineups? Maybe they can release strategy games or RPG games. i guess, so, during the NES era, they did some classics, like Ikari Warriors and Psycho Soldier, and they also ventured into rpg, namley SamSho RPG, the Athena RPG for PS1, and Crysalis (a zelda clone), and all did pretty good in the market (at least in Japan)... so i dunno, but i would like to see a follow up to Ikari Warriors or Psycho Soldier story..

you know i seriously wonder if 2d snk isnt almost out, done,finished.ss5s,neowave ,kof2004 .i think mi will do really well ,and with that sammysegaholdingssnkplaymoreplaylesswhatever will try to ease everything to a sort of mi state for main ips ,samsho esp .i could be totally wrong but i just have a feeling ,neo going is 2d as we know it going too I remember saying ages ago that I'd hate it if 3D kof was so popular that it made them re-think their strategy and ditch 2D stuff altogether, but I'd doubt that will happen as they know they'd piss off all their hardcore fans that have been with them for more than a decade. Most likely they might start making more 3D stuff which I'm fine with... especially if it gives them enough profit to splash out on better 2D stuff Anyway, I hope you aren't right Kaz
