Ok guys, this is the ultimate thread. What you have to do is state you favorite neo-geo game and describe why you like it (I guess ngpc and neogeo 64 should count too, but not too many peeps like ng64) BUT ALSO STATE SOME THINGS ABOUT THE GAME YOU DIDN'T LIKE.
I'll start-
Fav NG game-KOF 2001 Why: KOF 2001 was the first kof game where I learned to do complex combos. I also liked the way you could choose how many people were on a team. I thought O.Zero was severly badass and cool as well. The characters were great, inculding K9999.
Bad Things- Igniz is a fruit, Kyo loses his qcf*2 Punch DM, the machine at my aracde makes weird loud static noises (which is weird because its a multi-slot and the sound is fine for kof 2002)

THE ULTIMATE ANSWER
I like KOF96 the most. It has Geese, Big, Krauser in addition to my KOF favorites. It plays better than '95 and '94 IMO and I think it was the first neo game that I owned.
I dislike the quality of the sound. It seems more scratchy/staticy than in other KOFs. Also Krauser has a really crappy voice, and Big has some dumb moves. Goenitz is overpowered and highly cheap with his tornadeos. They replaced Heidern with Leona, and Eiji is nowhere to be seen. They also took out the crouch/crawl for the FF characters that was in 94 and 95.

My fav. Neo-Geo game is Kof 98 for its badass music, beautiful/colorful scenery. It also has my fav. cast and the controls are the more smooth/solid then later kof's. (Infact, i don't know why the fuck they messed with them.)
Things i don't like are the sports team & abscence of the kof 96 boss team. I would trade brian, luck, & D! for Big, Geese & Krauser any day.

Hehe, yeah we've done this plenty times before usually new peeps always make "Whats your fav. game/s" but there's nothing wrong with that, tastes change overtime. I think last time i chose Motw, which now is probly my 4th fav. neo game.

Samurai Shodown 2... always and forever! I've played it more than any other Neo Geo game, and it was also one of the games that got me into Neo Geo stuff in the early nineties. It might be old school, but to me it is still just as enjoyable and addictive as it was back in 1994. The atmosphere, characters, music, artwork and every other aspect of the game are second to none imho... and I have to be honest, although I loved SS3/4/5 and still enjoy them now, I think overall SS2 blows them out of the water... I know a few of you are gonna kill me for saying that The bad: I know there's flaws in the game, but to be honest I can't find a lot of bad things to say about it, aside from the fact that I only know one friend who is still crazy about the game that I can play against... and he lives a few miles away from me, so the chances of decent vs play are few and far between. Oh, actually there is one other bad thing - as it is an old game, there's no vs option meaning that when you play 2 player, the person that wins a fight is stuck with that character unless you reset the machine. No biggie I guess, and most of the older games are like that. Kaz

Really I don't see how peeps (I.E. KAZ!! can prefer ss2 over SS1. SS1 was the reason I bought my neo way back in 1992 or something. The sound In SS2 is AWFUL! And the voices of the characters! Eek! In SS1 all the characters at least sounded like they were done by different peeps. Ukyo had a light, sharp voice. Hanzo's voice was deep and well 'ard! Jubei sounded strong and aggressive. In SS2 all the voices sound the same. Kind of comical. Also, the music isn't as good - take charlottes stage for instance, - and Galfords and Earthquakes - all toned down. The music for those stages rocked in SS1. Also the Music for the character selection screen was far better and more dynamic in SS1. In general I think the sound in SS1 was faster and more "bassy" than in SS2, and encouraged aggressive play. Gameplay wise I think SS1 was faster. Anyway, thats my 2 cents wirth. My fav game is SS1. It is the reason why the Neo Geo is still around today. It is the ultimate. It is the reason why many people got a Neo Geo. It is the best! Still gotta play SS3 though! gettin it next week Admittedly I haven't played as many games as you guys - only about 10 or so - but I can't ever see SS1 being beaten in my eyes. Soz Kaz mate lol Channa.
