Hi
My Neo Geo is a UK PAL version. I have already converted it to NTSC (did a dodgy job myself some years ago - just cut the PAL connection with a pair of clippers!). But I want it to play unsensored games, so was thinking about the Debug BIOS chip. My question is this:
If once the chip is installed, I put it to japanese, then I should get red blood. But what if I reset it or switch it ooff and back on again? Will I have to keep setting it to japanese every time? So basically what I'm asking is will the chip save settings once the Neo is switched off.
I have ordered Ghost Pilots from Neo Geo.com. I can't believe their shipping costs! Even if it is airmail.
Cheers.

I don't think anyone converts neo's to different regions since the debug bios can do that...I have a jap aes with the bios so I don't know if the the config would stay after turning it off but my guess would be that it wouldn't. Imo it's worth having the bios because there are a lot of things you can do with it.

i'd be tempted to get in touch with raven games.....they do loads of conversion on a variety of consoles...not sure about converting it to japanese but i know they definetley can fit a bios chip....though they don't supply them. hullcityfcmad

Now the uni-bios has been made compatible with the home console, I think it's worth looking at getting one of those fitted: bios.cps2shock.comDunno how hard it is to fit into a home console though, unless you are really confident you might wanna get someone else to do it who is good at soldering Kaz

Thanks guys - I'll give it some thought. I'll try and contact ravengames but their website says they only do the conversion for the Neo CD.
I also need to get a scart lead. Anyone know of a good place to get one? (except Telegames - I ordered one from them years ago - cost me £20 and wasn't exactly well built when I got it - very poor and very flimsy, so it was). Neo Geo advertise an "RCA" lead - is it the same thing? Couldn't tell as there was no picture. Any help would be great. Cheers.

Nah decided not to get the chip - anyone know where I can get my neo converted to a japanese version? I managed to get my Japanese AES system modified with the debug bios chip about two months ago and I think that it's well worth the money. The chip has many great features and a simple "MVS-style" user interface which is very easy to use. You can even use your AES system as a 1-slot MVS arcade system with all MVS options (difficulty level, blood on/off, game modes etc.) available! The debug bios is unaffected by reset (it has a useful software reset option on it's main menu), but if you turn the power off your configuration will be lost.

Thanks everyone for all the help! Where did you get your chip from Akira? I bought it from the Neostore. The modification's total cost (debug bios kit + shipping + installation work) was about 50 €, but it's a small price to pay for long-term benefits... I still haven't even tried all of the chip's properties like the debug dipswitch menu yet. I actually have one problem that I haven't been able to solve yet. The memory card menu is still displayed in Japanese even though I have the chip installed and the AES region set to USA. Is it even possible to get it in English if I have a Japanese AES system?
