I wouldn't say it is a total spamfest but there is a slight bit more of a button mashing element to it as you can do some small combos with some characters that are just hard kick x 3 and stuff like that. They are easily blocked though, and to me the game doesn't play THAT much different to the 2D KOF's... obviously it isn't totally the same and I much prefer 2D KOF, but it finds a good balance between the two in my himble opinion. Another good thing is that it is much easier to persuade my friends to play this one, whereas they wouldn't normally touch a KOF. Perhaps this will chane their mind in time if they start to like this one Kaz

MI is out since 2 days in japan .
Well it's the japanese version only . I didn't play it ofcourse . But I found this review which is the first review of the game . It's not made by me , but made with "Shin Kyo Kusunagi"
"Well firstly I didn't expect the game to be as good as this.
At first when it was said to be in 3D I was skeptical and I'm sure many KOF fans feel the same. Then when I saw the video clips that came out early this year the battle was rather smooth and amusing/eye-catching but I still feared it would be like Street Fighter EX (not that it was bad at all but the gameplay was alittle different from standard Street Fighter). This was all put to side when I just gotten the game today.
I've used 3 characters so far (Terry, Rock and K) beating the game with two characters I must say the fight lives up to the video clips standard and to me, KOF standard.
The game is fast I give you that however I'm not sure this applies to all of you but I could execute moves perfectly just as it was in a 2D KOF. There are a few different things in the game compared to the 2D KOF though.
-Barrier around the ring. The limit of your fighting space. This time around unlike normal KOFs getting cornered is REALLY BAD
-Characters can now be hit even while on the ground
-Rolling doesn't go through opponents like 2D KOF. Probably will rety this when opponent is stationary.
-1 vs 1. No 3 vs 3 (I'm sure everyone knows this)
-It's 3D KOF
I can't say much for the storyline but it is atleast slightly better from what I expected when I first heard of what the story was going to be like. Anyone expecting this game knows or probably already has the feeling that there won't be much of stories in this game seeing as Alba and Soiree are the main stars of the game.
The only thing I find pretty useless are the evasive skills (evading left and right) as so far it has little use for me. I'll probably work abit more on it to see how it goes.
Overall the game is in 3D and feels 3D but at the same time 2D. Probably people and their only complain would be the storyline or such. Boss still is cheesy but lucky not that cheesy as previous KOF bosses.
As an avid KOF gamer since KOF 94 and before I say this game is definately a must have for KOF fans and fighting fans alike. Don't let the 3D discourage you. It does have it's own 3D enviroment feel but it's 2D at heart."
From what I've read I really want to play it , and here is a question : Does anyone know if Duke in this game is the same Duke from SNK's old game "Burning fight" ?

Duke is a guy with a scar around his neck which makes it look like he possibly had his head removed or something, but I haven't seen it explained yet... and the game is in Japanese anyway so I can't understand what is being said in story mode (just sounds like the guy before each fight is introducing the opponents and not much else though). He's very cheap, although not too hard to beat. He has a constant level 3 super meter and has these massive fireballs that he does which hit the ground and spread out around him... so even if you were behind him you can still get hit (just have to get FAR away from him when he does them. As is par for the course in an KOF boss though, he also has a Genocide Cutter type move... I'm sure none of you saw that one coming Kaz

Terry kicks ass, and he has both his classic red jacket blue jeans costume and his MotW style leather jacket... with every costume there's also numerous colours and I'm starting to really like the 3rd colour of Terry's MotW costume, it's quite funky but cool. He also has his Rising Tackle (unlike the MotW version of Terry), which is cool and nice to combo with. Rock seems to play well, but I haven't had much time with him yet... his 2nd costume makes him look like a Final Fantasy character or something though... but it's still pretty cool ;D
Duke - I can only really tell you what I said above, other than that I don't know much about him. He might be relate to the Rugal family though, seeing as he has the Genocide Cutter. I want find out more about him but I'm not sure what is being said in Japanese. Roll on the US version! ;D

I like it. It's a cool game. Really lives up to the original King Of Fighters. But when you're down, you almost can't get up. And the walls are so annoying...especcially when fighting Duke. I managed to win ALOT of fights with just using Terry's Power Dunk over and over. Really cheap. But when fighting some skilled ppl, it's great.

There's a few other cool ones too that fans will recognise, such as Rock sporting Kaede's (Last Blade) outfit. It's only a minor thing but a really nice touch, and shows that SNKP isn't going lazy on us with this one. Now give us new 2D sprites pls kthx ;D Kaz

I like the entrance scenes. Especially the ones where Mai and Lien enter. They make the DOA girls look like angels. And i'm really digging the church level, especially with the music, kinda reminds me of Soul Calibur 2's church level...but better and more uprocking

Some of the winposes and stuff also seem a bit more generic to me (and one of terry's in his new outfit is screwed up), but for the first 3D game its great. Hopefully if they make a sequel they will do more work on it, but obviously the gameplay is most important Kaz
