It would be easy to convert the games across but I can't see it happening now. That petition won't really change anything imho, but to be honest I wouldn't mind seeing DC conversions... then again I think SNKP seem to want to concentrate on porting the games to the PS2/Xbox.

So wats the petition gona do any way ;D ... it's not like the Petetion is gona change thier mind I know the chances at seeing Dreamcast conversions are slim, but hey if you don't try, you'll never know. Frankly I have to give the guys who are trying to push this idea (check out www.dreamcast-scene.com for more information on their petitions, apparently the Naomi board game Border Down was successfully ported to Dreamcast thanks to their efforts) a big thumbsup. It's more than just petitions btw. They seem to be a motivated bunch.

Because they don't have pretty enough gfx and Sony USA has some sort of policy whereby they think that people might see these "old fashioned" 2D games and think that the PS2 is crap... or something like that. They allowed stuff like Guilty Gear and Capcom Vs SNK 2 cos they either have pretty high-res gfx or 3D backgrounds, and they did allow them to release the KOF's (2000+2001) because they were value packs that contained more than one game and they were cheap.
On the other hand though, they would not pass Metal Slug 3 for release at all, nor Samurai Shodown 5 as far as I know. If you want them you either have to get the Xbox version, or you'll need to import the Japanese PS2 versions.

In other words u don't know 4 sure(100%) ... do u have any proof on it like I always show u N others ;D How about a part of the interview here? It's an interview with Yoshihito Koyama and Shinya Morishita, the director and manager respectively of SNK Neo Geo’s overseas business arms. When it comes to the problems with Sony, there is this part of the interview: Moving on to recent difficulties with the submissions process at Sony Computer Entertainment America, Koyama-san let the firm’s frustration with recent events be known. As regular readers of SPOnG will know, SNK’s US offering, headed up by the infamous Ben Herman, has had some difficulties in its attempts to get games already on open sale in Japan accepted as stand-alone PlayStation 2 releases. “Sony just isn’t interested in 2D games anymore – whatever it might be,” exclaimed Koyama-san. “And yet many games, as long as they are in 3D, trickle through all the time. It’s a crazy situation and we don’t believe it reflects the needs of game consumers."

Thanks flan - SNK people have said many times in other interviews that Sony are a nbightmare to deal with. Surely a Sony sales rep like yourself would know all about this... lol And by the way, I don't bullshit about stuff, anyone that knows me knows that... if I'm not sure of something I'll always say so, and if I am wrong I'll admit it. edit: also check out this thread here: kazuyauk.proboards16.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1089367681There's another interview linked there and the same SNK people mention Sony not liking them releasing their games unless they are double packs. Me a Sony sales rep? Aren't you mistaking me with supremelord? ;D Personally I think most of that old-fashioned 2D game stuff looks way better than the standard 3D fare we're getting on ps2 nowadays. It's more related to personal taste than anything else. In that aspect, we're just unlucky that a couple of the big shots within Sony don't share our tastes. I don't think they did a lot of market research on this.

lol sorry, it was aimed at Spamlord... I was tired yesterday when I posted that, here ;D
I agree though, I prefer a lot of 2D stuff to the type of generic 3D stuff that gets pumped out these days. I do love a lot of 3D stuff, but there is still a huge place for 2D games imo. At the minute the GBA is my haven for 2D gaming, but although I'm excited about the PSP and DS handhelds, I'm worried that handheld gaming will become a 3D mess too to be honest.

Thank you, I have been viewing the boards for a month and its great to finally be a member. Everyone seems so helpful here. Thanks for the sig comment. I love anime 1. Chobits 2. Rurouni Kenshin 3. Neon Genesis Evangelion 4. Angelic Layer 5. Blue Seed Well we are all pretty laid back here, none of the mods or myself are too harsh when it comes to moderating and we all try to help each other as much as we can. Good to have another anime fan here too, hope to see you posting in the anime section a bit too Back on topic though, will be interesting to see what kind of comments we get after Neowave has bee nout for a few days. I know that lucky so and so Buddha will probably have it in an arcade near him so he'll probably be back with some comments about it at some point... as for me I have no chance of seeing it unless I splash out on an AW or until the ports come out for PS2/Xbox. Kaz ps good choice putting Kenshin in your top 5 ;D
