With all this news of Atomiswave hardware based SNK titles coming out i was wondering if we should keep posting info about new SNK games in the Neo Geo Talk Section even though technically it won't be Neo related anymore. What does everybody think about this? (Its really Kaz's decision anyways but i'm curious about everyone's thoughts on the issue)

I think we shouldn´t change this! "Don´t break with the Tradition!!!" I think we won´t stop talking about MVS/AES, and People also won´t stop having any Problems and Questions about it!

Well, without new games coming out i think this section would sort of dry out over time so i was just thinking maybe it should be renamed the Neo-Geo/SNK talk section cause i'd find it quite weird posting new info about SNK games in the Non Neo Gametalk section

So I think we should use this Thread to search a new Name for it! I´d say: "Neo-Geo/ SnkPlaymore Talk"

I think this is just another addition to the neo line of systems(neo Cd,pocket, aes, etc). So i really don´t see a problem of this drying out. The games will also be snk own so it´s still fatefull to the old tradition. I think it will be the opposite with the upcoming X-box releases, the already past discusion on the PS2 ports of some games....and now the addition of the atomiswave upcoming titles.

I don't mind if it dries up either. It's great that we even have a next generation of these games to look forward to.

I'm not suggesting that we start a new section if anybody has misunderstood me. I was simply suggesting the thought of posting about future SNK games no matter what hardware they're on (which we usually do anyways) in the Neo Geo talk section. I suppose there's no need to rename it, it just seems more accurate to adjust it a bit. As for tsimnami... no offense dude but i have no clue wtf your above post is about in relation to my thread or at all for that matter

Atomiswave should go right in there along with all the other snk/neogeo related products. Like i said before, it's just another addition to the snk lineup.

Yeah, I think it is probably best to rename this section a little to something like what you mentioned above. We have already talked about ports to other systems here, and I can't see this section being so busy that it would require splitting up into two seperate sections. Here's another question though - what about the site itself? Although I post news about ports to other systems, what about when KOF 2004 and others actully come out, should I put the reviews for those games on the main site along with the others, or make a new section? At the moment I am thinking it would be better to have a new section for those, as the main site is still NEOGEOforlife.com Could put them in the non-neo reviews section I suppose (this is still just about empty), but it might be better to have a totally new section... maybe even get a new domain name for it and have it as a new site... I dunno yet. Kaz

well... i guess callin this forum NeoGeo/SNKP talk is better..
but about the site... i know it is a NEOGEO site... but i guess along with SNK, it must also "evole" into somthin new, but still keepin intact the same old stuff that amde NGFL.com so famous;)
i guess an SNKP-Atomiswave reviews wont hurt... and since SNK doesnt have any of its own hardware, i guess tackling on ports/AW news/stuff are good to.... it may make it seem that it will become a "SNK fansite" w/c imho isnt that bad...

You may be right... I suppose it would be a lot easier to have them all in one place. What I might do is place a poll on the front page and see what the general opinion of the sites visitors is, because at the end of the day it is you guys that use it There will probably be some sort of site redesign at some point, so whichever way the site goes, it will be incorporated into the site well so it is nice and easy to find what you need. this was over at gamespot............. TOKYO--At the AOU show in Tokyo, Sammy announced that SNK Playmore will be shifting its arcade development platform from the NeoGeo MVS to Sammy's Atomiswave. Three new titles have been announced for release on the Atomiswave: The King of Fighters 2004, Samurai Spirits AW, and Metal Slug 6. No footage or images of the games have been released. The King of Fighters title that was announced during the AM show last September is also still in development, and its name has been changed to "The King of Fighters NEOWAVE." “The NeoGeo's games have been played worldwide, but it ran on a 16-bit board that had reached its limits. Producing under a better environment should make the development easier and allow leeway for a higher-quality [game],” commented Youichi Watanabe, chief of Sammy's marketing division. “Within Japan, the AWNET should be able to attract a base of fans in ways that weren't possible with the NeoGeo. In global terms, we should be able to make stable title releases in Asia, Central America, and South America.” Most of the speaking at Sammy's stage was done by SNK Playmore's chief of development, Kazuya Hirata. Kazuya directed his comments toward three titles that have been announced for the Atomiswave and finished the announcement off with a few words on the NeoGeo platform. Selected quotes from the presentation are below: King of Fighters 2004: “As you may know, we've made 10 installments in the King of Fighters series. This will be the 11th sequel,” said Kazuya. “To be honest, this game [series] has been pretty hard to create. We've been adding variations to it, remaking the system each and every time. We've completely remade it when it went into a new chapter in the last game, [KOF] 2003. We're currently in the middle of porting the [game's] system since we're moving to the Atomiswave. We're going to start planning out [for KOF2004], but there's been a lot of ideas that we couldn't do on the NeoGeo, so hopefully we can realize them on the Atomiswave. Graphics and sounds will obviously get better, but we also want to strengthen the gameplay itself. We will be adding new characters this time as well.” Metal Slug 6: “Metal[Slug] went through its fifth series, and the next is the sixth release. But we've used up all of our ideas in terms of the action game,” commented Kazuya. “The developers seem to be interested in the [AW]NET, so we're hoping to use it. As the sixth release, we hope to give it an integration of the gimmicks and action elements we've done up to now.” Samurai Spirits AW: “Samurai [Spirits] is a game where the characters really stand out. It has a different aspect from the King [of Fighters]. Samurai [Spirits] Zero Special is coming out around April, and we're hoping that it will showcase the last of the NeoGeo [platform],” said Kazuya. “The next one on the Atomiswave will mark the sixth release, just like Metal Slug. And similarly to the Metal Slug, the development team seems like they want to give it all they've done from the past, so there might be some interesting changes. The details aren't concrete enough to be talked about, but it seems like we'll be making some dynamic changes to the characters.” About the NeoGeo platform and the future of SNK Playmore: “We've worked with the NeoGeo for 13 years. That's a lot to think about. There have been talks in the past about when we'll stop supporting the NeoGeo, but this is going to be the real end. And that's really an indescribable feeling,” commented Hirata near the end of the press conference. “We hope to continue developing and to evolve the capabilities [of the Atomiswave]. Other titles are also being considered for release on the Atomiswave.” hullcityfcmad
