"Sammy and SNK Playmore announced a collaboration to produce a series of new arcade games for the Atomiswave system. SNK Playmore will develop The King of Fighters 2004, Samurai Spirits AW (tentative name) and Metal Slug 6 on Atomiswave." Source- www.the-magicbox.com/gaming.htm gameonline.jp/news/2004/02/20007.htmlSince this has not been officially stated by SNKP i'm sort of undecided about putting it on the news section of the site but i'm hoping this ends up to be a reality Hold on, I thought Sammy alone were going to make the games, with SNKP only porting them. But it looks like SNKP and Sammy will be developing these games together, man now am confused.

^ I can't tell for sure myself either, maybe with snkp working on the game also the games will keep more of a traditional snk style but overall it really doesn't matter to me... Our fav. games on sweet new hardware is all that matters

I'm really curious as to how they will draw them for the ingame sprites. Me too. With the game supposively coming out as soon as May we should most likely get some screens in only a couple months if it doesn't get pushed back.

"AOU: SNK Playmore confirmed that Samurai Spirits Zero Special will the last game for Neo Geo MVS system. In the future, all new arcade titles will be developed on Sammy's Atomiswave board, which is based Sega's Naomi / Dreamcast technology."
Just found that at the-magicbox.com with snk based atomiswave games due out as soon as May it's not a supprise to me.

Damn shame, still...my aes just became a collectors item.
Also, if this is what it takes to keep SNK in the ballgame and maintain them for the future, i´m all for it.

More Extremely hot news/info- www.1up.com/article2/0,4364,1532086,00.asp "SNK's Kazuya Hirata explained that the Atomiswave hardware (a Dreamcast-based system similar to Sega's Naomi hardware) will enable SNK to realize games that weren't possible on the Neo Geo. These first efforts won't be drastic revisions of the series, though. KOF 2004 will employ a system similar to the new Neo Geo 2003, and while the new Samurai Spirits may feature substantial changes to its character design, its gameplay will remain familiar to players. Hirata also noted that SNK is considering moving other key series to the Atomiswave platform, depending on the success of its first three efforts." This is quite good to hear.

That's indeed some excellent news. I was worried about the gameplay staying faithful.
