Hehe yeah...another late discussion(god I hate testsT_T). Anywho, I for one enjoyed watching Miyazaki's Princess Mononoke a lot and it's tied with Sprited Away for my personal favorite. The whole contrast with who is good and evil in this movie is argueable imo and that makes it all the better. The action scenes are very nicely done and the romantic element is well used.

This was one of the first anime movies I watched. Back then they called it the Star Wars of anime, and while it's not in space, I can see why they referred to it that way. It's one big adventure that never lets the pace down. It's fairly long for an anime movie, but the moment I turned it on there was something about it that took all my attention, and time flew. This also is one of the few anime where I liked the dub, but maybe that was because Gillian Anderson was part of the crew.

The dub seems kind of out of place though. Gillian Anderson fills in the role for some 80 year old guy with her character ;D

I watched this a long time ago and really enjoyed it. I don't have the DVD though, so I'll have to try and grab it again as I could do with watching it sometime soon Kaz

lol Btw, changing the subject slightly, but Spirited Away - I have never seen it and keep hearing things about it. They are doing some special offers at HMV and Spirited Away is actually part of that deal so I am considering picking it up... so it's definitely worth it then? Kaz

Out of the two I definitely prefer Mononoke. It's obvious that a lot of time and effort went into Spirited Away, but to me the main characters just don't connect.

one of the reasons why Hayao Miyazaki is such a genius i REALLY ahted the Disney produced Dub of this, (in fact i NEVER liked dubs, im a purist, so what?) P.Mononoke is probably one of the best films (note that, FILMS) ever produced, and probably Miyazaki's Maguns Opus

So, i know i'm crazy to mention this but i just saw this movie for the first time earlier today. It was amazing in every aspect to me. I had pretty much given up anime but after this i'm gonna have to check out all the films by this director.
Just like i feel about the Kenshin OVA's this is a movie that goes beyond just being a "great anime" to an excellently written and directed motion picture in general. (Actually, i think it's one of the best movies i've ever seen) So many messages from different perspectives and it remains un biased and lets the viewer think for themselves. I couldn't find a single flaw, they didn't even add in a cliche ending. (Which wouldn't even have made me think less of it.)
Oh yeah, i forgot to mention i watched it... dubbed...! I can't wait till next week when i pick up the dvd so i can watch it subbed and with surround sound.

I need to watch more movies from Studio Ghibli. Whisper of the Heart is supposed to be really good.

Thanks, i didn't even know about that one. The poster pic looks great but i couldn't find a way to get the trailer from that link. Apparently it's being directed by Hayao Miyazaki's son, hopefully it turns out well

Thanks, the trailer looks good. Seems like great quality animation but they seemed careful about not spoiling the movie by showing any scenes that where too important. I just finished dling Howl's Moving Castle. I'm gonna watch it later tonight.
