The sound on my MVS is screwed up. It makes sounds at the appropriate times but the noise is makes is bad. Here is the timeline of events:
Hooked it up in my basement – everything is groovy. Moved to garage and hooked it up – everything is groovy. Had a party – possible spillage Turned machine off The temp in my garage dropped to 10 degrees Fahrenheit Moved the MVS back to the basement (requires sliding the unit 30 feet) Waited a day Plugged machine in, turned it on… and the sound is all screwed up.
Any insight? Ideas? Where should I start?

Could be that one of hte sound chips on the board has been damaged, but I'm not the best person to ask about that... you might want to try asking on neo-geo.com (tech support forum) as a lot of people there would know. The only other thing I can think of is to try cleaning all your carts, and perhaps the actual connector on the board itself if you can. For tips on this check out www.hardmvs.com which is a great place to go to for MVS board info if you haven't checked it already. I also suggest pushing the cart (gently) all the way into the slot, and if that doesn't work, pull it a little way out of the slot again, maybe a milimetre or so, then turn the machine back on. I know this sounds dumb, but there have been so many times where I have got bad gfx/sound and after pulling the cart back out a tiny bit and/or cleaning it, it's been totally fine. MVS carts are a bit fussy at times Hope that helps, Kaz

Hmm. Perhaps with the rapid/extreme temp. changes, it could be that...
Possible expansion and contraction have caused some contacts to get messed up.
Condinsation formed, which 'could' create rust, short circuits. -though its definetaly not the latter since it still works.
Are the sounds you are getting, actual samples? Or like static. And I am assuming it does this for all your games?

The initial music is fine. When I'm playing Samurai Showdown or any other game (I tried a couple) the music works just fine but voices and sound effects are like "digital static".
