Ok, we all know that in many ways the "new generation" of SNK, SNK Playmore have been very disappointing at times, and there are many things that we want to see from them that we haven't yet... and they certainly haven't trod any new ground or attempted to push the envelope like the old SNK did in their prime. However, over the years things have steadily changed, and this year so far in particular we've seen some encouraging signs.
We've got Neo Geo Battle Coliseum soon, Samurai Shodown Tenka, KOF XI, possibly a new Metal Slug for the AW, not to mention home ports such as KOF: Neowave (and eventual home ports of the aforementioned AW games). There's certainly a long way to go (an understatement) before the majority of fans will ever hold them in the same high esteem as the original SNK, and I suppose it is a matter of opinion over whether you think SNKP have improved.... however that is basically the point of this poll; are you happy with the direction SNKP are moving in, or do you hate them with a passion and believe they are crapping over SNK's legacy from a great height?
Let us know how you feel, and why... and what you think SNKP could do to improve things. Personally I think that other than finally drawing some proper hi-res sprites and genuinely using the power of the Atomiswave, they really need to improve customer relations some more, and to actually work harder at getting the ports of their games released much more quickly. I know they have problems getting games published on the PS2 for instance (when it comes to Sony America in particular), but I still feel that they take far too long in doing it... look at how long the port of Neowave has taken! Perhaps there are other reasons that we don't see, but taking this long to release games doesn't do them many favours if you ask me.
VOTE NOW AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!! Well umm... not really... but yeah.... vote anyway... ;D ;D ;D ;D

I've know SNK/PLAYMORE has had some past dissapointments with some titles.
But if you think about it, their releasing so many outstanding titles withing 1 year! Imagine how many titles they'll come out with given following the end of this decade!
However I can't say all the games would be ubEr great, but they'll throw so many titles eventually they'll hit the mark with the fans. If I recall SNK has made some crap games in the past, but they always stand right back up, learned where they went wrong, and use that knowledge to make super uber games in well known titles we to this day still talk about.

I'm pretty neutral on this. I don't hate everything the've done but they haven't really impressed me yet.

They're definately getting better but at the same time they're using new hardware so it's definately hard to judge atm. After i play the latest games and test the balance i will be able to make a better decision. For now all i can say is that they're improving.

i would have 2 say i hate them with a passion
i play snk games cuz they r mostly fighters
ALL of the fighters have been excellent
and then comes their fall, but they stuck 2 2d
i am heavily against Maximum Impact it has 2b the worst game ever 2 come out in snk history
I FUCKING HATE THIS PIECE OF SHIT!
FUCK MAXIMUM IMPACT, i am not against 3d games. i am not fond of them, but i don't hate them. i would so rather have a rehashed kof...or another game of high calibur, but not maximum impact

Playmore is a great developer, but NOTHING like the old SNK that took risks, went after every company they could in their ads, and stood up for 2D ;D Imo, the best part of SNK/Playmore is noise factory, that revived on of the NeoGeo's best series (Sengoku), and created the best Power Instinct sequal (Matrimelee). I belive that SNK/Playmore will never fill SNK's shoes.... there about a size 7, and the original SNK is a size 14

lol I kind of agree with what you are saying kuma. One thing I can say in their defence though - perhaps if the 2D market was in a much better state these days they would have much more cash to take the same risks that the old SNK did, but seeing as 2D doesn't sell as much anymore (not in the western world anyway), they can't afford to... and I suppose they don't want to end up bankrupt again. If they have a choice between putting out another rehash KOF that they know will do great in the arcades, or spending thousands on a totally new game with all new sprites and risking that it might not do very well, I guess they think the choice is clear... that's business unfortunately. Someone on neo-geo.com recently put it this way - look at the game that some feel is one of the old SNK's best ever titles: Mark of the Wolves. They took a huge risk with that, by cutting out all the Fatal Fury regulars but Terry, putting an ungodly effort into making amazing animation and solid gameplay, but what did they get back out of it? A game that might still be VERY well thought of amongst the vast majority of fans, but also one that didn't perform anywhere near as good as a new KOF game where the content is maybe 60-70% the same as the previous years incarnation. I'm not ripping on KOF because I still love the series, but I suppose it's frustrating when a title that has had a whole lot of love put into its creation doesn't sell as well as it deserves. That's probably a large part of why we haven't seen a sequel yet, because regardless of whether or not Playmore still have the talent to make a worthy sequel, creating one would be a large risk due to the amount of work and more importantly MONEY they would have to put in... Still, things are picking up, and it seems like we are getting quite a large amount of games this year that are all fairly exciting. SS6 looks like it might be at least reasonable, I'm quite excited at seeing how KOF XI turns out, and I'm EXTREMELY excited about Neo Geo Battle Coliseum, because Playmore does look to have put more effort into its creation (with the long development time and all the loke tests etc, as well as making new sprites for some old highly requested characters), so maybe the future is getting brighter. Whether or not we will ever see a new and great Last Blade or MotW sequel is a different story though... we can but hope Kaz
