I would still like to see a few more quality Neo Geo games in the near future (in addition to Samurai Shodown V Special), especially because I just purchased an AES system. After all the Trieu's article didn't say that the production of Neo Geo games would stop immediately.
There's one thing that is worrying me though... The games that we will be playing at home in the future will be Atomiswave CONVERSIONS. I guess we have to trust SNKP that the conversions will be accurate and NOT poor like some of the Neo Geo conversions.

Im fine with all this, but the aes souldnt die. All we have been seeing is the same old same old, 3 fighting games and a shooting game(metal slug) Before! they pull the plug they sould at least make another baseball stars or a platform style game. Mario with metal slug gfx -btw if playmore wants better gfx with kof; they sould take out all the crap characters, leave the 12 good fighters. upgrade the gfx with motw style ones with 5 great bgs and a great bgms. and tag style gameplay- KOF04 CRASS AKA KC-

How long does Sammy have SNK's intellectual properties for? I mean will there be a time when the contract between the companies expires?

I agree about the other styles of games, but they won't make them as they wouldn't be guaranteed money makers, whereas KOF and Metal Slug are. Doing a KoF like you say would be suicide though to be honest... it would look pretty, but it just wouldn't be KoF and it would end up having less characters than KOF 94. I definitely couldn't see that going down to well in the arcades. In my opinion they are best to just make the next one for Atomiswave, because then they have the room for great gfx/animation on a large amount of characters... but hopefully they don't screw the gameplay in the process . It's all up to Sammy now anyway, and as they (apparently) have some ex-SNK employees on board, I can't see them messing it up. sonicfoot: from what I understand (maybe I'm wrong), they bought the rights for arcade only titles lock stock and barrel, so it is permanent. SNKP still owns the rights to the home console ports etc though. Kaz

Kaz Well if thats the case, then IMO I think that they should have only given Sammy the rights untill SNKP is back on track with its money problems. Well, unless they're planning to buy it back off them again .

To be honest, I dont think they have any money troubles now, especially as they won $54 million off Aruze in that court case. This is a business decision, pure and simple... they are going to concentrate on doing the slot machine pachinko stuff and also from the home console ports, which should make them a lot more money, which is what they need as none of us wants to see them go bust again.
Other than that, they knew they needed to move on from the MVS hardware at some point, so they had two options - hire a load of new staff and take a massive financial risk creating new games with a new team of programmers and on hardware they have not used before, or pass on the torch to another developer who wanted the IP's so that they could worry about that stuff (and obviously make an absolute ton of cash selling those IP's most likely). Although some developers make games for the love of it and for the fans, they do have to make a profit as well, so I think they made by far the right decision from a financial point of view.
Now we just have to sweat it out for a while before we see what Sammy comes up with... I personally believe that the games they release will be great, but only time will tell...

Well I hope Sammy does good, they have been ultra quiet recently about some of there upcoming titles. Especially the KOF title for Atomiswave By the way I aint agaisnt them moving to new hardware, it just sucks that all they'll be doin now is porting and making pachinko machines
