I'd also say that it was the weakest... although underneath the shoddy graphics and terrible music its actually a half decent game. If only they had made it look a little more appealing on the outside and also sound a bit better. Anyway, you still gotta give it a bit of respect because it introduced us to the wonder that is Angel

No, seriously, I thought it to be the weakest for quite a few months now, but part of me began to wonder whether this was down to the poor graphics and atrocious music that wouldn't be out of place in a late 80's arcade game. But I do like it, simply for the contrast in style to 98. Maybe it's because I'm feeling a little bored of 98. I couldn't really give the title of favourite KOF to 98 simply for the AOF team, which I felt all played too similarly. Ah well

HOW DARE YOU ;D Other than kof98 i play 2k1 based on gameplay and character variety, id say its just above kof99 for my second fav. kof. I recognize that the bg's and music suck but thats not why i play a game, kof 2k1 has about all the characters of 99 but a shit load more good ones to add a whole lot to the replay value plus the darker colors used for the sprites look better imo & i concentrate on them way more the the bg's. Out of all the kof's 2k1 is FAR from the weakest, lots of great characters that enable me to play it almost endlessly.

Mh, for me the least favorite one was KOF 95.
I totally didn't like Athena's voice in there, though the soundtrack was super.
It did introduce Iori and others but other than that, i'd say it's the least atractive for me.
KOF94 stays up there with my all time favs as wel as 96 and 98.

Agreed, i mostly play 98 for great bg's music & characters like billy, yamazaki, chris, yashiro & ect. & i play kof 2k1 for the newer characters like k9999, Angel, the kof99 team and others. Kof 2k2 to me seems like trying to mix the old with the new and in the process ruining some great characters (takuma, yashiro) for no good reason.

Id say my fav. pre 98 kof is 96 overall, i wasn't too much of a fan of the old school gameplay in 94-95 but it sure wasn't bad.

Seriously, Throwen, of KOF98 and onwards, I liked 99 the least. I only changed my opinion recently on the game, as I did once think it to be the weakest. The audio/visuals are pretty ugly, but it plays excellently. And like I already said, it's a departure from 98, something that 99 is not enough, IMO.

Ok, ok ok ok. I voted... finally

I voted for KOF96 because of several reasons

1. It was the first KOF to introduce the run and the roll. Making KOF into a much faster fighter.

2. It was the most unique. Sure sure you can say that about most of the KOFs. But there is still only one KOF where you can beat up Kyo fanboys with Geese. Its also got the pimpin Mr Big -need I say more? And the amazing Krauser, although in contrast to his realbout self, he is a wimp.

3. Its got Goenitz. I'd say he is one of the more original SNK bosses. And one of the rare few KOF bosses that has *gasp crouching attacks. (Hes also got that awesome voice unlike Rugal IMO)


I still have yet to try that KOF96 drama CD.

True, all the boss characters in that one played very well and balanced without being 2 cheap. I'd actually like to see Mr Big return to kof ;D Every time i play with geese 96 now it reminds me of how lazy snkp is to put in the same damn sprite from that game in SvC.

:DIn my opinion i reckon the 3 best KOF's r KOF98, KOF2000 and KOF2003 ;D

KOF98 for excellant graphics and cool gameplay ;D

KOF2000 for new and cool gameplay like striker system and nice moves as well ;D

KOF2003 don't really know y i choose this ... maybe cause off all the videos i saw off it ... IT ROCKS

The other KOF's r nice but not as great as KOF98, KOF2000 & KOF2003

But still the best lives on ... KOF98 is by far the best

although, i have to admit kof 98 was a limonoid between, old school and new kof. kof 96 has to be my best one ever.

If you have played KOF2002, KOF2001 is a piece of garbage. But if you havent played KOF2002, then its ok.

KOF2003 was rushed to me. Both Shen and Duolon are unbalenced to the roster.

I can perform a Duolon Infinite. Shen is just plain power.

Mukai never really impressed me at all as a boss so im going with KOF2002...KOF99 slips behind my choice though.
