Just been reading a few reviews of Romero's Land of the Dead. So far it sounds like it is very good... I love Romero's stuff so hopefully it will be. It would be hard to beat the original Dawn of the Dead though! (not the silly remake) Land of the Dead reviewsKaz

Yeah Romero is the god of zombie flicks - that's why the new one was lacking for me... it was entertaining and I loved it during my first viewing, but when I watched it again what really stuck out like a sore thumb is the total lack of a proper plotline/any real feeling for the characters, and the main thing is that it is missing the whole cleverly disguised social commentary that Romero tends to put in his movies. New Dawn is way better than I thought it would be (at first I thought it was sacrilege to remake it), but not quite as impressive after the first viewing.
Land of the Dead is supposed to be very well done in that respect though, so I can't wait ;D

I'm proper pysked too coz Romero is the KING of zombie movies, I'll never forget the first time I saw Dawn of the Dead, around the same time as playing Resident Evil on the Playstation, man, those were the days!! Day of the Dead kicks ass too... Has anyone seen the Aussie film ' Undead ' ?? Supposed to be very good, if you like that sort of thing!! P.S. I thought the remake was really good..

Yes I've seen Undead... I kinda wish I hadn't... Technically it is superb and considering the budget they had the effects are awesome. However, people have been calling it an Australian Bad Taste, but it is nowhere near the quality of that film. There's some good action bits (imagine crossing John Woo with Braindead and you get the idea... and a lot of cool stuff going on at times, but the storyline is totally messed up (especially at the end) and some of the characters are just so annoying you can't wait to see them get torn limb from limb by zombies! Worth watching and you might like it... but I really didn't rate it too highly overall. I might give it another go some time though. Actually I saw Dawn of the Dead about the same time as playing Resident Evil! As for the new Dawn of the Dead though, I liked it, but it could and should have been far better. They just made some real bad mistakes with the way the story went, and also with the characters. To me it felt like it had no soul whatsoever, whereas in the original it tried to make you care a bit about the characters, and it also had the whole clever "social commentary" thing going on (or whatever you want to call it), which is something Romero always puts in his films. I didn't expect them to try and do anything like that in the new one, but they could have developed the story/characters better then they did. For pure action and stuff it's quite good, but it just seems empty to me. As far as recent Zombie flicks go, 28 Days Later and Shaun of the Dead are easily the best we've had imho... both British films too! ;D Kaz

Cool man,
I'm gonna give a go, but I'll bear your comments in mind. I'm not expecting great things...
What you said about Dawn of the Dead is kinda what I think about the Resident evil movies, they could of been so much better/darker/scarier... the movie lacked any soul and credability with me, the whole story needs rewriting....not dark enough.....Look at the remake of Resi 1 on the cube, how brilliant and cinematic was that game, then look at the movie..Commercial poo!!
Yes I agree that 28 Days later was a great movie. I really enjoyed it BUT I really didn't like Shaun of the Dead. Don't get me wrong i think Simon Pegg is really funny, anything that he has done with Steve Coogan is fantastic... But the movie just fell flat on it's face for me... Maybe I need to see it again...

Looks interesting, although I'll probably wind up being disappointed again after having watched it. It has been like that with most of the recent zombie movies, except for 28 Days Later. Computer graphics aren't always a blessing.

. Computer graphics aren't always a blessing. Definately, it's nice to see a good movie without them these days!!
