Well I broke down and bought an infocus X1a DLP projector. www.infocus.com/products/productview.asp?site_lang=1&site_region=1&prod=x1a&c=4I can say whole hartedly that this thing really kicks ass for the money I paid $804.00 out the door for mine and its worth every penny so far. I had seen an X1 a few years back at a friends house and liked it , but this one is definitly a cut above { no screen door effect at any screen size ;D and its HD ready } Right now Im running it at about 120 inches screen size on a bare wall and the quality is exceptional for a textured wall. My next move will be to invest in a Da-Lite 100+ inch screen , though I am going to fool around with hanging some off white sheets between now and then .... Im watching the Earth Light dvd at the moment { non progressive scan } and its fantastic Forza is pretty cool at this size too ;D Anywhoo if you guys are looking for a great budget projector that is very reasonable to buy and maintain ,this is a sure thing for the money, bulb life is about 3,000 hours and at about 190.00 a bulb it shouldnt kill ya in the long run either.

Yeah I was thinking about getting either a projector or a Plasma TV when I leave the home. Of course, either one is still going to be an investment for me. Good to hear some positive feedback on projectors.

Good to hear some positive feedback on projectors. Go for the DLP man... plasma is still way too questionable for the money { 50,000 hour life span at best } , plus the black levels are total ass on anything under 12K. I would highly recomend a good DLP projection tv over a plasma any day ... Plasma = a rich guys toy and a bad buy all around for the standard consumer who doesnt have buckets of cash laying around. Bang for the buck { size and quality vs cost } ... nothing can compare to the DLP projector market , but for some people they just arent a good fit. I try to stay up on all of the videophile stuff since dreams are seriously becoming a reality on the tech front these days ... now kickass equipment is very affordable ;D
