I dont think either of you understood or actually read my post...I always thought that the keeper was not allowed OFF of his goal line or make any "drastic" movements to offput the player...I think this arguement was settled with [whoever] because if they allowed the keeper to do whatever he wanted (run up and down the line or off his line) then the players would be allowed to dummy during a penalty leading the keeper on which isnt fair for the keeper at all.
Anyone who watched the Man U vs Arsenal game the other day will know what im talking about as the Ref warned BOTH keepers 5 times for moving off the line before the ball was hit...Now i know nearly all keepers move slighty during the peno but what DUDEK did was totally taking the piss...the Grobbler knee thing wasnt actually moving it was just stupid looking but dudek ran UP AND DOWN the fucking line and came out ATLEAST FOUR fucking yards off the line!! I just thought it was cheating but i didnt know if the keepers were allowed to move...if it was different rules or anything for the Finals

i have an exam tomorrow morning so i really havn't the time to read all the arguments. but it was an amazing game. sure, penalties are always the worst way of ending final since its really all down to luck at the end of the day. but to come back in the second half against ac milan like that is no small feat and for that they deserved it in my opinion. reminds me of that bit in "the day today" (old spoof of newsnight written by the legendary chris morris, for those not in the loop) when alan partridge is doing football commentary for the world cup and this goal comes out of nowhere at which point he screams on live tv: "shit! did you see that!!!?... he's must have a foot like a traction engine". those lines summed up the game for me. despite getting a little to ambitions towards the end of the second half, gerrard rocked. so did dudek even if he did make a few mistakes and yes stepping over the line like that, i mean, wtf??!! how did the linesman not see that?   that said however, milan got one or two wholly undeserved free kicks so it pretty much balances out when you think about it. |

What the fuck you on about? You talked a bag of wank last time when we beat Chelsea, and then never replied to either mine, tsims or ants posts (lost the argument?). That's what he meant. I agree he came right off his line which was wrong, but as sepia said we had a lot of shit go against us (and you kind of ignored what I said earlier about the penalty we didn't get, the red card they didnt get etc), so that sort of thing tends to even itself out unless you have a truly awful ref. Besides I think it is about time we had some luck go our way - I won't make excuses for where we finished in the Premier League at all because we plain weren't good enough, but with all the injuries and bad decisions we had go against us I think it was our turn for some good fortune. As for Dudek moving up and down the line... wrong! You are allowed to do that provided you stay on the line. Trust me on that one, I've seen many keeper do it. And you can stall your shot slightly, provided you don't come to a complete stop, wait for the keeper to dive and then shoot. Didi stopped a little bit before shooting, but only a harsh ref would have ordered that one to be retaken. Besides, go watch the replay - I've been watching it all day and while making this post, and the VERY NEXT penalty, their player pauses right before kicking it... oh and did I mention Dudek still saved it? Totally wrong... despite what people may think I'm very impartial most of the time, despite being a passionate scouse fan. At the end of the 1st half yesterday I held my hands up (go ask crag and ant on this forum who were both there with me) and I said "If we do lose now then it's deserved cos we just haven't played at all". No slagging off of Milan, no calling them names, no saying "we've been robbed cos we should have had a penalty"... just respect for a great team that were beating the one that I love, and I eat, sleep, drink and breath football so I had to respect Milan for the way they had played up until that point. I don't talk shit about teams/players unless it's truly deserved and to be totally honest Milans lead after the 1st was deserved (but we knocked the stuffing out of them in the 2nd and proved we wanted it way more )... but I had no real complaints about them at all. Sure, there is some friendly banter... in fact ever since I've known Tsimnami we always take the piss a bit, but we do seem to have mutual respect for each other and there is no real hate, just some fun... when push comes to shove though we respect each other teams, and along with him not saying bad things about us when we beat Chelsea recently, I congratulated him when they beat us in the Carling Cup even though I was gutted. That's REAL football fans for you. Another example is the Liverpool, Turkish and Italian fans in Istanbul yesterday mixing with each other and generally having a laugh with very little trouble at all. Considering everyone said there would be major violence for sure, I think it went pretty damn well. Again, REAL supporters who not only love their clubs, but they love the beautiful game too. Anyway, what you are saying isn't really pissing me off. In fact I LOVE replying to people who talk like you do... I've been doing a lot of it this season, and it is just nice to see my team prove certain "fans" wrong, and YES that includes YOU Klarko. According to you we should have been out of it a few weeks back, and I bet you were having a right laugh at half time weren't you? I can see you now sitting there getting ready to login here and post something, but thankfully my team didn't give you that chance Anyway look at the sig... say what you want but no-one can take it away now, and that trophy is staying in our cabinet forever too! Anyway, it is time for Montse Benitez to get her new watch... this one is gonna cost Rafa an arm and a leg!!! I just remembered something, can't believe I forgot it. I seem to recall that two years ago in the European cup final, a certain keeper came right off his line to save a penalty, and his Italian based team won that shoot out and the champions league. That keeper was Dida, and the team was AC Milan. If we can be accused of cheating, then they can be accused of cheating. What should we do, go back and strip Milan of their medals from 2003? Kaz |
