Yeah my PC is still fucked... I've had enough of it to be honest. It still either slows down real bad while the HD is going crazy, or it just freezes up completely. I've swapped out practically every part of the PC including processor, RAM, motherboard, gfx card... you name it, we've swapped it out and tried something else. Still can't get it working stable, so until I do expect me to be away again for a while... I'll still drop in when I get the chance using someone elses PC just to make sure everything is ok, but for now I just need to get this problem sorted once and for all. Will post back as soon as I can Kaz

I hope not too... I got the PC to be a bit more stable, but it's still far from 100%. I just can't figure out what the problem is, unless my board just doesn't like the type of memory I am running. Probably gonna try some good branded memory and see if that has any positive effect. This is really pissing me off cos it's such a weird and unexplainable problem, and on top of that I just refuse to keep paying cash out for stuff when it's still not making any difference Alaso gonna try flashing the bios on the motherboard to the latest version, maybe that will help, I dunno. Checked the power supply? My pc was playing up very badly when I had a defective PSU in it (thanks to the tosser who sold me the case) and it was near impossible to guess what the problem was untill the scraping started.

I'm beginning to think some of the flakey behaviour on here is down to the board not liking this RAM I have... gonna try some better stuff to see how that fares, and also flash the bios to the latest version as according to the gigabyte site the latest version for my board fixes some problems with certain brands of ram... so it's possible this is a part of the problem.
Also... it might be possible that my HD/DVD drives are not configured properly. I think the way they got setup is that the burner is on the same channel as the main HD, so that is another possible source of trouble. I'm gonna check that out tomorrow, too tired right now. Right, I'm off to bed I think and hopefully I'll have some more answers very soon!
