Anybody here like a band that no one else you know listens too? For me it would be Orgy. They're a weird goth metal band that had a couple of albums I got into. I thought they'd vanished but they just released a new album this year and it sounds very good and breaks their old style but in a good way.

i too like Orgy, but i dont see (hear for that matter) them that much anymore... i liked thier neo-goth look, and one of the guitarists has a surf-board shaped axe rocks i like thier remake on blue monday hehe, anyway, as for my personal faves... i would say some japanese Visual Kei bands... especially Malice Mizer... sure they cross-dress, but thier music is purley goth oriented, NOT goth-metal style, but relly, true goth (as in barouque style harpsichoards,etc..) and thier changing vocalists, made them have variety, when tetsu was the vox, they sounded dark and a bit metal-ish, when Gackt was vox (my fave), they were like... think Versailles during Louie XiV's rule, all cheerful and flambouyant, but still emo... during Klaha's time, it they were gothier than even.. very dark and brooding, and they sounded more like a Band, than an orchestra... (as you can see i like the band too much) some other faves of the same category (V-kei) Mucc, Dir en Grey, Baroque, etc....

orgy are i love bands which are experimental and they're cover of new order's "blue monday" is excellent
as for experimental bands my favourates would be nine inch nails and rammstein, both bands experiment loads with there sounds and lil keyboard/synth parts which fit in and adds the little bit that make the sound unique

Awesome Two orgy fans already. I too like Rammstein. Du Hast and has such heavy guitar riffs and the whole Mutter album is great imo.

I listen to all sorts of older stuff that almost no one listens to anymore. Like Rush, Triumph, Y&T, The Fixx ,The Tubes,The Kinks,The Cars, Thomas Dolby and Jean Luc Ponte which is fantastic... espicially his earlier stuff. I listen to newer crap aswell but not as much as the older stuff ,since most new music almost always sounds just like the last usually untalented and very unorigional group of "musicians" ...heh I use that term rather loosly these days since most guys cant really play anything instrument wise worth a damn ;D I think the days of true musical talent are long gone and has been replaced with guys who can only play three chords and sample everyone elses work just to make their "own" music There are some exceptions to that trane of thought but as a whole thats how the majority of the music industry looks to me

Make that three Orgy fans, and if some more of my friends were here you could make it about 8... I know quite a few people who like them. PM is right, that cover is excellent, and I don't remember a single week where I have been out clubbing that it hasn't been played ;D. My favourite song by Orgy would probably be Opticon though. CC: agreed with the lack of musical talent, and that goes for the whole music industry really. Unfortunately the bands with real talent tend to be the ones that disappear, while the crappy ones become popular with the mainstream audience. Also, many a good band has been turned into a shitty one by record labels (COUGH... Roadrunner.... COUGH), as they make changes to their style of music to make them more palatable to the mainstream. I really do fear for my favourite band, Killswitch Engage... hopefully they can succeed in locking RR out of their recording studio in the future Anyway, enough ranting... Two bands that I have been listening to a lot for god knows how long now and not *that* many people know of are Shadows Fall and God Forbid. I just love the guitar work on their stuff (Shadows Fall's newest album in particular) and the lyrics, so I recommend them highly if you like your metal heavy Kaz We are going to be seeing God Forbid again with Machinehead next Friday!!!

Was fun though, pit actually seemed more violent when God Forbid was on than it did when we saw em in London, which is good ;D Kaz

that's not new! bands have been doing that for years. the sex pistols started out shamelessly doing covers of stooges songs (which were aleady about a decade old by then) like "no fun" and "i wanna be your dog" which in themselves were three chord wonders just like the rest of the sex pistols stuff and pretty much most of punk in general.
anyway a few bands i love though i'd be surprised if anyone's heard of them:
godspeed you! black emperor
spacemen 3
my bloody valentine
slint
low
mogwai
bardo pond

Yoshida Kyodai (Yoshida Brothers) well, i'll just quote thier website for thier description.... [glow=red,2,300] They’re revered as musical royalty. They play to sold-out crowds. They’re treated like celebrities. Their “axes” are old school. Their music is new school. They are what’s new in music.[/glow]but really, thier music is like Trad japanese, yet modern, they use the Tsugaru Shamisen (3-string instrument) as if they were Hendrix on guitar, really skillfull, and they mix modern sound with trad music... well if ya want somthing different (see my sig for info)
