most of the raps i like are the old-school stuff and some of the modern, ear-friendly ones, though i listen to what i feel like listening to anyway, especially mellow femme and some new wave. one thing, i'm no fan of songs with lyrics i couldn't understand, mainly anything starting with J- and K- (to note a few)

well, im a Rock person . . .especially J-rock, but i also like J-Pop, and some K-pop (BoA anyone??!) the ONLY rap/urban/etc. group i like is The Beastie Boys, the sound. .. old skul and i like that more than gangster rap. .. old skul is more. . . happy  |

At the Moment I really like "Who gives a fuck where you from" from Three six Mafia. garage = garbage I'd agree with you on that... but the way you feel about rock/metal/punk etc etc is basically the same way I personally feel about pop and almost all RNB and rap. The way I look at it is I like to hear music where the performers have some talent (like being able to play an instrument or sing well live), and a lot of todays music has none of that at all. Before anyone goes crazy I don't think the same way about all non-rock stuff as many other artists do have talent, but it really isn't my sort of thing... but I'll at least respect talented individuals even if I hate their stuff Kaz |

At the Moment I really like "Who gives a fuck where you from" from Three six Mafia. I'm not sure if your kidding or not but i definately believe the term "I don't get the point of that Music." would totally sum up the title of the song you mentioned in my point of view. I like rap music but i believe it is slowing going down the drain (if not ruined already) with all the "hip" talk about how many cars somebody has or how "a motha fucka is gonna get beat down at tha club". Stuff like that is being churned out constantly cause of its simplicity and is very silly imo. Lately i listen to alot of old stuff like Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, the Beatles and when it comes to rap i only listen to the older stuff that has a legible and decent message. |

I'm into rap but not mainstream rap at all.
So no snoop Dogg, DMX, Lil' John, Dre, emin3m, none of that for me please.
As far as American rap goes, I only listen to Def Jux, (Aesop Rock primarily) which sometimes is complete crap, but occasionally has something good.
And Cannibal Ox because I like his name

most of the mainstream rap is just dissing, showing off, or bursting in anger with a beat. hardly any true meaning behind the rap, unlike the old-school rap, the time when cussing too much was controversial.
used to like rock too, but seems that i can only enjoy it if it's played while riding on a car, as a soundtrack in some games, or while kicking back with the buds.
anyone here who likes acoustic-type songs?
