I know we have a sticky topic for KOF 2003 already, but this one deserves to be stickied too First off, there is a great writeup about the KOF 2003 beta test in the US, which you can find here: www.vgonetwork.com/article.aspx?ID=38Although some *really* great stuff is said about the game in that writeup, there was one particularly interesting bit said at the end of the article: For those of you that didn't see it, Trieu from snk-capcom.com also mentioned a while back that a new fighting game would be coming to the MVS next summer, and hinted that it was a continuation of another fighting game series on the Neo Geo. Trieu is a very reliable guy with some good sources and whenever he says anything you can be sure it comes from good sources (for instance, he broke the news about SS5 long before it was ever announced), and now with this hint of a new Fatal Fury game coming, perhaps we will indeed be playing MotW2 in a few months time?? All I can say is Kaz

Im just lost for words. Its about time, its been to long, to me Fatal Fury has always been the Street Fighter of SNK, only better Fatal Fury Series is more the heart of SNK than KOF IMHO.

I know exactly what you mean Sonic, this news (providing it turns out to be true which I think it will) really made my day to be honest. Despite all the people that still seem to hate SNKP, I think we have had a damn good year, and it looks like we might be in for an even better one in 2004. I mean, look at it this way - we did have to put up with a few really bad/average games with Metal Slug 4, KOF 2001 and the like, but now we have: SNK Vs Capcom - great fun, even if it is a little flawed in some respects Samurai Shodown 5 - People seem to have forgotten about this, but everyone I know that has played it says it is one of the best Neo games they've played in a long time, even though some backgrounds have been recycled. A new SS game was long overdue anyway, this is still my personal fave series on the Neo Geo. Metal Slug 5 - Every time I look at this it just blows me away. I really need to play it to know for sure, but this does look very close to the quality of MS3, perhaps even better in some ways. KOF 2003 - After a few years of really average games (even though I found 2002 fun), this years KOF really does look extremely good. I am a little disappointed at a few things here and there, but overall I am more excited for this game than I have been for any game in the series since '99. Matrimelee - Can't forget about this one, even though many people seem to have already. I did sell my MVS cart a while back as I had played it to death, but Matrimelee is a very cool game and it nevers fails to make me laugh with all the craziness that goes on in it. I'll probably get it again if the price drops down And now we have SNK Vs Capcom 2 and hopefully a new Fatal Fury game on the way. Although I still don't *quite* agree with Trieu saying that things are better than they ever were with the old SNK, I really am starting to warm to SNKP now, and I thought they were *OK* before! I wonder what other tricks they have up their sleeves for next year? Kaz

Youre right about that, this year has been great. I bet the Ladies and Gentleman of SNKP have been working a lot, and I mean a lot. I dont recall the original SNK having such a busier time than this. To think that this year there have been appox 6-7 games released or being released on the MVS/AES, thats not including KOF3D they've been working on for the PS2 and the KOF thats gonna be developed for the Atomiswave which we know nothing about yet. So that makes it about 9 games:o! in a short period of time! Im outta breath now! (Here's Hoping Terry becomes the true mascot of SNKP not Kyo)

Hell yes Like I said before when we had a poll about this, I'd like to see a sequel to Garou because it needs it more then anything IMO.

Yeah it has been a damn good year, and I think it could be an even better one next year. Just thinking about how awesome SNK Vs Capcom 2 could be if they ironed out all the problems with the first one, and then added in a few new modes. Imagine if the backgrounds were of the same quality as KOF 2003 seems to be, if they added in some of these new sprites for the SNK characters and then added in tag as an optional game mode, I think we'd be looking at a truly special game indeed.
And Mark of the Wolves 2... I think SNKP is starting to prove that maybe just *maybe* they could do the game justice. I'm still not entirely convinced, but it is looking more and more possible. I wonder if the old SNK had any code lying around for MotW2, as it was rumoured to be in development before they closed? If they did, you can bet that SNKP would build the game up from that code, if it exists... I'm sure that's what they did with stuff like SS5.

Yeah I really want to see a few older FF characters find their way into the lineup. Mai, Blue Mary and Andy are must have characters for me, but most of the others would be welcome too. So long as they have at least a couple more returning characters and the addition of some good new ones, I will be happy.
Plus I wanna know wtf happened to Freeman!

I would really like to see Geese or Krauser back, its just not a Fatal Fury without one of those two.
I may be in a minority here, but I think they should put in Richard Myer. He was totally awesome, and my favorite boss in FFKOF

Definitely bring back Krauser, but I'm not sure about Geese. Don't get me wrong, he's a great character, but he's a little overdone now in my opinion. It maybe wouldn't be too bad if they bought him back as a regular character instead of a boss, but I'd still rather see the space on the cart used for someone else.

Yes, i think they should let Geese go in the Fatal games. Kain was a great follow up on Geese as the new boss. I´m not a bit fan of bringing back the older fighters to MOTW, you´l just have an new version of the older fatal games that way. It would be cool to see one or two come back as a hidden character. But not too easy to spot, but make it difficult to match him...in the same way Kuroko was in Samurai 2. That was a very good hidden character that took some time to get to and to beat.

Kuroko was cool and all, but I prefer having all the fighters more balanced really. I wish SNKP would abandon the whole "boss characters are godlike" strategy and make bosses that are challenging, but also stand on their own as playable characters. For instance, Bison was always tough against the CPU back in SF2, but no-one would really feel cheated if you picked him in VS mode.

I'd find it hard for them to put new characters in the next MOTW because the first game left a lot of the characters with unanswered questions. It would rule if Yamazaki showed up though

Yeah, MOTW 2 is gonna be a REALLY touchy subject for SNKP, it's going to be insanely difficult to capture the same feel as the original...the same goes for LB3 which was hinted to vaguely by Trieu.
I'm hoping for the best here...the MVS' days are numbered unfortunately, beelzebubble thought 03 might have been running on new or updated hardware, but seeing as how its coming to the NGH I doubt it. Regardless, I'm hoping for the best.
