I am thinking of upgrading the crappy 64meg Geforce4 I have, and I am looking around at what is best to buy, but I'm not totally sure what would be my best bet. I currently have an AMD XP2000+ and 512 megs of ram... and am looking to spend about £150-£200 on a new card. Any recommendations? I need something good for Doom 3 and the like (TV out is also a must) Kaz

I was going to suggest what Hullcity said.
The fx5900 is a decent all around card and runs nearly all games nicely, I say that because I have one and it runs utk4 and splintercell2 quite nicely.
And you won't need to worry about hardware t&l anymore.

My current card isnt bad for UT2004 but it stutters like hell at times, and I'd say my processor is fast enough... plus that PC killer known as Doom 3 will probably cause my current card to explode, so I know I need to upgrade Thanks for the advice both... that card sounds good so I am gonna see if I can find it at a better price from other sources I have first. If not then I'll grab one from Ebuyer. Kaz

My advice to you kaz is check www.pricewatch.com for a Radeon card in your price range. Hell for around $200 dollars you can already get a 9800 pro, i got a buddy with a 9800 & a 9700 pro and they both play the bootleg version of HL2 flawlessly. Don't learn the hard way like a certian poor person i know, (not me don't go with Nvidia anymore, he has a geforce fx (something or other) that he payed as much for as you could buy a 9800 pro and he runs HL2 miserably and can't even play UT2004 with the higest version of antialiusing.
