I nearly laughed myself to death with this Hong Kong movie last night. Best thing I can compare it with is a cross between Fortress and Braindead. Gruesome and outrageously gory. I thought I had seen my share until I see somebody choking another person with his own intestines. And if the hero finds himself confronted with a broken vein, well then he just ties the two parts back together, no? Add to that punches going through heads and various other body parts (yay, Fist of the North Star!!!) and prisoners going through meat grinders, and it's fun all the way. Plot: It is the year 2001. 21 year old Ricky Ho, who has sworn vengeance on all drug dealers for the killing of his girlfriend, is convicted for murder and sentenced to a maximum security prison. Inside he must face both the sadistic prisoners and the brutal warden, who is obsessed with knowing where Ricky spent the last two years. Both combine together to torture and kill Ricky, but Ricky fights back, having learnt special breathing techniques that give him enhanced martial arts abilities. In one word: awesome   |

In one word: awesome heard about this movie, though i haven't watched it yet (and i really do want to watch it!). Story of Ricky is actually based from a manga whose artist is highly influenced by the creator of fist of the north star (which explains the gore factor). |

Not attracting enough attention: does it help if I tell you there's a head crush scene in the movie? Still want to go to McDonalds or Burger King after watching?  And those recent video games and movies that are showing x-rays of the affected body area: Story of Ricky was there first.  |

man ever since i checked out this Story of Ricky clip in www.badmovies.org : home.ripway.com/2004-6/134407/storyofricky1.mpg.mpeg...i wanna get the movie for my gore-filled entertainment needs! check out the vid of what looks like the most violent kung fu movie ever! Meanwhile it's already a part of my collection. The dvd comes complete with interviews and references to the manga and other violent movies. Picked it up super cheap too.  |

Picked it up super cheap too. the Fist of the North Star movie (the one with real actors instead of the anime) should've been like Story of Ricky by production instead. but i do sense FotN influence from it. why don't they make movies like these these days ;D |
