I'm off to see this tonight... I'm a massive fan of the first one, and although I was calling this remake "sacrilege" and "blasphemy" just a few weeks ago, I must admit that it is starting to look better and better! I saw the first 8 minutes (downloaded a rip of what was shown on American tv last week) and it was pretty awesome. If the whole film is as good as the first 8 minutes, then it's gonna be killer... probably not as good as the George A Romero classic though. Anyone else going to see this? Post your opinions here. I should also be going to see the film "Shaun of the Dead" in a couple of weeks, that also looks awesome. Zombie films are making a comeback, BIG TIME Kaz

i won't be seeing this because i hate remakes of films...the living dead series were some of the finest horror films made and i hate it when some half wit producer/writer can't come up with any new ideas for a new film that he hash up an old movie. hullcityfcmad

I'm a massive fan of the original and I was saying that it was blasphemy to remake it... up until I saw it tonight. I just got back and I have to say that for any true fan of zombie movies this is one BITCH of a movie... it was absolutely great. The remake is missing all of the social commentary and plot/character development of the original, but this is a blessing in disguise. If they had tried to do a serious remake then it would have been dumb, but instead they decided to just make a full on action film that actually pays homage to the original (with some good cameos from the original actors), that is just a blast to watch. There's a lot of action and a lot of laughs, and if you like zombie films then it's hard to be disappointed imho. Best part of the film though has to be one of the tracks on the soundtrack... if you have ever heard "down with the sickness" by the band Disturbed, you will LAUGH YOUR ASS OFF halfway through, as there's a version of it during the movie that is called the lounge version, and it's kind of a jazzy remix... it was totally unexpected and me and the 5 friends that I went to see it with couldn't stop laughing the whole way through the segment where it plays, although I don't think the rest of the audience got the joke Anyway, without ranting too much, all of the people I went to see it with are massive fans of the original, and we all thought this movie was a damn good remake. It's not a classic in the same sense as George A Romero's masterpiece, but it's a very entertaining movie that is well worth seeing... it's the ultimate post pub "I have had far too much to drink and I wanna watch a fun film with my friends" kind of thing, and I totally enjoyed it. I dunno if you guys will feel the same, but I definitely need to buy the dvd when it comes out. Still waiting for the Brit film called "Shaun of the Dead" though... that looks amazing. Check the trailer here: uip.co.uk/romzom/It's a zombie film parody, most people seem to be eagerly awaiting this as it looks VERY funny for any true zombie genre fan. Check the trailer and laugh Kaz ps the original is still better overall I must admit, but I think this version and the old one compliment each other perfectly

It's already released in the UK? It's not even on the release charts here... A couple of my american buddies who have been watching it liked it a lot, especially because of the gore (loads of headshots it seems

Shaun of the Dead was written by the people responsible for Spaced; it's bound to be good.

Shaun of the Dead was written by the people responsible for Spaced; it's bound to be good. ...and it is... very good in fact. I got free advance tickets for it and went to see it last night , I'll be going again when it comes out officially as it was a cool movie. Not as funny as I thought but it was hilarious in places. Even without the funny stuff it would actually still pass as a good zombie film actually, so it gets the thumbs up from me "OH SHIT HE'S GOT AN ARM OFF!!!" Now you mention it, I need to get the Spaced DVD's at some point... Kaz
