How come movies like this don't make it on the big screen over here? Nope, instead they serve us with the umpteenth romantic comedy. Thank god for import and internet, otherwise we would be the unserved audience.

When i picture a female rambo, it´s always this big b00bed blond bombshell...not a manbitch.
Yeah, the difference is still insane. The west still doesn´t except asian cinema fully here. Especially in europe....Netherlands sucks very in that department.
When we went to Zatoichi, they also had a poster up for a new Japanese horormovie named Dark Water(or blue water...was a bit drunk so can´t remember it correctly). It´s comming up here, but it´s taking ages.

I saw Battle Royale in the videostores here though. ;D
BUT I think the main problem is, that these subjects (Battle Royale) are too shocking to the countries here, with students shooting at eachother, because it happens for real too.

Meh, you know american flicks too. They're as violent as they come. Natural born killers (which i love), a clockwork orange, gangmovies, drug/ganster/mob movies and stuff like that.

BR was pretty good. It was very controversial when it came out in Japan initially.
Natural Born Killers was EXTREMELY controversial when it was released here. Especially after some people started immitating parts of it...
Clockwork Orange was I believe a British film. Also very controversial. (I heard it was banned in England for awhile?)
I hate gory overly violent movies. BR1 was kinda well done, and it sorta had some sort of point (highlighting some controversy of several Japanese cultural items) From what I've seen, and heard from reviews, BR2 isn't nearly half as good. It doesn't have any sort of metaphorical commentary, and is now just a violent movie with no point.
You want violence/gore with no point? See House of a Thousand Corpses (the stupid Rob Zombie movie) that is the worst and goriest movie I had had the misfortune of seeing.
