why is snk making games based on old hardware specs? why cant snk make thier games pcb like SVC. making the new pcb boards have new graphic chips and better sound chips? dont get me wrong last blade has great graphics and sound but some of neogeo games like MOW has average sound effects compared to last blade. im sure its due to to the fact that they pushed for better graphics on MOW but had to sacrifice on sound. this is because the hardware they working on is outdated. sure they find new ways to mess with sprits and sound, but im sure they can do better. dont get me wrong i still LOVE neogeo. I just want to see them change the technology they work with. im sure they can make games in pcb form from now on. i dont mind switching my 2 slot for a pcb to play thier next generation games. If anyone knows why they havent done any changes on technology they use plz teach me what you know. Im interested in learning about neogeo or snk same to me

I would suspect that it largely has to do with money in that it really doesnt take much for what is now SNK to code and pump out MVS software, In reality MVS cart prices arent alot in the arcade world and the profit margin for SNK is very high so they will milk it until they cant do it any longer. Personally I dont expect to see too many more MVS based titles hit the market due to the hardware just not being competitive in the market anymore, I actually expect SNK to drop out of the arcade market completely in the next few years in favor of the home console market, or completely fold alltogether once again. Unless they can really pull a rabbit out a hat so to speak ,they wont be able to survive the ever shrinking arcade industry. These days it really is a dwindling industry that takes true innovation in game design as well as boatloads of capital to stay afloat ,Judging bye MR Kawasaki's past SNK performance { that would be amassing 38 billion Yen in debt ) I seriously doubt they will get another chance with this should they blow it again. Gone are the days of corner arcades where it was easy for game companies to make money ,now its all going corporate with places like Dave & Busters and Game Works at least in the US anyway. Places like those have absoutly no interest in fighting games in general and really only want the mega corporation games from people like Namco and Sega since they can get incredible leases on the hardware and the big flashy cabinets will draw the manstream moron to blow $5.00 on a game because the cabinet looks neat. I think within the next 15 years or so there wont be any arcades left ,at least not the home grown places we all have known and loved. With home game consoles that now rival the arcade games in every way { for the most part } there really is no incentive for the next few generations of younger kids to even bother going to an arcade ,and I would bet that most of them would say all of the arcade games we love are totall crap. Hate to say it but I think all of this is inevitable

Well said Candycab... As Candycab said, the arcade probably won't exist in the next generations of young players, which is a huge loss for them. I remember the happy memories that as a young lad I used to pump coins in the arcades in Hong Kong playing streetfighter 2 or samurai shodown 2, with tons of people watching, waiting in line; now, the number of people in the arcades greatly decrease, at least from where I presently live (toronto). Playmore would love to change hardwares but they can't. There are not a great deal of MVS running out there, at least from where I live, all you see when you walk in the arcdes at location is people playing Guilty Gear XX on Sammy's atomiswave machine, or Streetfighter 3 on CPS3. Playmore's profit base is considerably lower then it's major competitors, they know they can't risk failing again (as with the neogeo 64). I greatly admire how Playmore is still able to produce great games for a dated hardware (the product line-up this year is probably one of the most exciting for MVS fans), but Playmore can't survive long depending solely on their MVS. They are making some progress already, like allegedly producing their work (KOF 2003) on Sammy's atomiswave machine. Venturing in the console market, as Canycab pointed out, is a way out. The fall of arcades do not hurt companies like capcom that much, since they make big profits on the console market. Therfore, as Candycab said, Playmore really need to venture in the console market for long term survival.

It is all sad but true. I know that eventually SNK will not be able to make a profit in arcades and the neogeo. Hopefuly we will still see them on the next-gen consoles. SNK is a great company and I am sure they can prevail on consoles like the PS2.
