For those of here at the NG4L forums who are going to get a PSP, I personally think these new generation portable consoles suck, it's a good warning if they're looking around on Ebay.

...and a whopping five games. Check that football game, looks much better than FIFA! At least it's probably more successful than that Gizmondo thing. It kind of reminds me of the Degenatron www.degenatron.com/(gaming greatness from the 80's...if you lived in Vice City that is)

UMD's just don't seem practical to me since it's a handheld and there's zero games I'm interested in for it(like the Xbox 360). It's a bit much to ask for it to be cheaper considering it's age but it's not worth what the price tag says imo.

Yeah true...we'll just forget the PSP sold out in nearly all of europe and USA. Japs are weird...its a fact. Look at the Jap top 10 right now and I bet you any money Nintendogs is still top or close to it. They had that peice of crap at number 1 for time! Your moaning about the price tag...its only £80 more than a DS man and thats WITH a built in DVD player, Photo gallery, and an MP3 player + memory card. You dont get none of that actually with the DS so it works out alot cheaper. The games on the DS dont last very long. They are too easy to complete and im not even gonna talk about the graphics. Ok I will I love comparing games on the DS to the PSP Burnout vs Burnout Ridge Racers vs Ridge Racer FIFA vs FIFA All the DS versions were a joke. The PSP is way more superior to the DS in gameplay and graphics wise. And yes graphics do matter (this is the future). the DS make stupid mistakes. Like theyve released Final Fantasy 1 and 2 on the GBA and just recently released FF4 for GBA. THEN they go and release FF3 on DS!? It dont make sense!. I agree the stylus was a very good unique idea but it only works well for a few games (ever tried racing with it?) The DS is alot cheaper also because look at the state of it. When it first game out it looked awesome but then you see something shiny and sleek like the PSP and think...friggin hell this looks like a cheap peice of crap no wonder its only £100. The games are only £5 cheaper than the PSP games anyway so I dunno why people say "yeah but the games are cheaper". Anyway I think I went abit off-topic but im just saying the PSP IS better than the DS. I do like the DS but the PSP is better. Fact

Graphics are indeed stepping up but I need some enjoyable gameplay with my games and the DS has delivered well for me so far. For handhelds using cartridges I found the graphics to be as good as I expected. Mario Kart DS isn't stunning by any means but imo it has some nice elements that make it a lot of fun. It's probably a sound idea on sony's part to expand the PSP beyond games with music and movies and internet but those aren't things I want from a handheld. It's nice to have a movie that you can watch wherever but generally you're going to have to buy a umd format disc to do that(I'm assuming you can watch other formats by placing them on the memory stick) but I don't do that. If I watch a movie it's generally at home or at a friend's place on dvd with a regular TV. So there'd be no point in me buying umd format movie. I'm also not one of those people who listens to music in public very often so that's another reason why I would only buy a psp for the games. But since there aren't any I find worth having a PSP for that leaves me with no reason to buy one. I believe Nintendo is so hugely successful with handhelds all these years because they focus strongly on gameplay to enforce the fun factor in their games. Innovating WIFI into their latest releases is a great idea imo. Not to say their haven't been horrible games for their handhelds(good lord RE Gaiden). Graphics are important but you can't argueably make a good game with graphics alone. I wouldn't be surprised if sony quit producing the psp once the ps3 is released since they will no longer need it as a source of hype for their company.

Well one of the biggest hypes about PS3 at the moment is the linking of PS3 to PSP. So its very doubtful that they will stop producing it. Its obvious (e-mail from capcom) that they will be releasing a Resident Evil for the PSP and if people think the DS version is good (lol) then what are they gonna think to the PSP version which will no doubt be stunning because of its power.
Your right about the graphics dont JUST make the games but I mean come on theres hardly any PSP games that are total crap. I am a sports freak I love playing all sports games so for me the PSP is even better seens as the sports games are probably the best genre on the PSP. The RPG's are awesome aswell (Kingdom of Pradise, Tales of Eternia) and when FF7 comes out its gonna be untouchable. Youve got the new Metal Gear Solid comming out (not acid and not that comic book one). Resident Evil, Gran Turismo, Tekken, Virtua Fighter, Splinter Cell, Megaman, GTA series (more). So with all these top class games I dont see how they are going to stop producing them.

lol But the DS is killing this thing 3 to 1 in japan. games.kikizo.com/news/200601/096.aspBut US analysts think the psp is going to pwn the DS from 2006 onwards. Where does that leave you now with your DS, huh? Face doom, kn3wb. ;D
