Halo character to appear in Dead or Alive 4

While last week we dropped the story that there would be a secret character in Tecmo’s upcoming Dead Or Alive 4 that was from a non-Tecmo franchise, we can now officially confirm which franchise this character will be from.

A Tecmo source at X05 in Amsterdam today confirmed to Game Informer Online that the game that this secret character is from is none other than Halo. This is the first time Team Ninja has gone away from their own stable of characters for the Dead Or Alive series and is using a character from another title. While our Tecmo representative would not say exactly who this character would be, we found out it is not Master Chief. We unfortunately can’t 100% confirm which character will be in Dead Or Alive 4, but we can guarantee it will not be a warthog.

We’ll have further updates on this story when we get them.

It's Cortana alright. It was the most obvious choice, and the best one too imo. I would have preferred Joanna Dark though.

Hehe, true. I've seen videos of that guy talking about DOA and he trys way to hard to be a "badass". (wearing sunglasses in doors and such ) Yeah DOA is badass in looks and style but... well, i'm not gonna get into that.

It's kinda sad that they're doing that to prey on the many Halo finatics. As if halo had a very original or interesting cast to choose from.

To be honest, im a Fan of the DOA series... i actually think it surpasses Tekken (kill me, i couldnt think of a better analogy) when it comes to simplicity and non-intimidating gameplay, which makes it easier to pick up but , as you said, that's nother discussion..

Yep, Halo is bland as hell imo.

Hehe, joking aside, I'm not sure this is a good idea, but hell... SC2 had Heihachi/Link/Spawn, so there ya go. Although I like the series, the DOA creator does make me laugh - I kind of lost respect for him when he came out with the "Tekken is a piece of shit" thing. Of course he's bound to encourage people to buy his game, but to talk about it like that is just stupid and pretty disrespectful imho. You're right about him stealing Namco's gimmick too

As for Halo, I still love Helo 1, but sad as it may sound I haven't really touched Halo 2 much at all... I will though when I get the chance. I'm not sure what it is about that series, but I really like it personally. Hard to see how Cortana will fit into DOA though...

Bah... I dunno ... I think this is a bit random; could be good could be bad ... I've always thought of doa as more of a straight player; the difference will be whether it is a 'guest' or a 'gimmick' character.

Tekken is a bit more qwerky in its style and can get away with such things a bit more... although i don't like that fricking kangaroo or gon.

Mind you I will reserve judgement until I see it in action - but i wont be happy if the halo character looks totally halo and starts pulling out guns...

I guess that this is when i piss off Xbox DOA fans by actually saying that i prefer DOA 2 (Yay Dreamcast!) to DOA 3. (beach volleyball rules though) I just think that the arenas are just so well designed, although the fights can get irritating when people just hammer the 'counter' button.

Here's a link to what Tomunobu Itaki (team ninja's head honcho) said about Xbox 360 prior to Microsoft's Japan press conference in July. Food for thought. The use of DVD-rom in the 360 is something he doesn't seem to like, let alone the Sega Saturn comment.

This tactic of Halo characters in DOA seems to me a bit microsoft driven as opposed to Team Ninja's idea. Might have something to do with launch title publicity. Personally i didn't like Halo's character design. I mean, green spacemen are so early 80's.

As far as fighters go, I'm spending way too much time on Rage of the Dragons to be thinking about DOA. Although, I'm going to have to order Soul Calibur 3, but that's another story altogether.
