Training > Parry Practice
Like kuma said its just tap forward but you can block > parry (red parry) but if you wanna show off and parry supers youve gotta parry loads...i spent most of my 3S training on parrying instead of fighting...i can parry all supers

There's a bit of a habit of trying to parry everything at first. I found it best to resist this, as it usually ends up with you eating a combo when you mistime or guess high/low wrong. I found the solution is to just use block at first, and start adding in the parries when your opponent gets into predictable patterns. Try practicing against a Ryu or Urien AI, who always fall into predictable patterns! It's usually easier to parry a human though, as they often fall into a certain "rhythm". Kinda hard to explain!

No offence m8 but thats totally wrong...its BEST to try and parry everything...the more you do it the more you get used to it...you start off at the top and work your way around all chars parry all there moves, combos, chains, resets, supers (starting with akuma going round)

We'll have to agree to disagree on this matter, as I feel that relying on parrying won't get you too far in this game, regardless of how advantageous it can be. You DO have to practice it, that's true, but to rely on it all the time is just plain crazy. It isn't infallible, after all. It was a lot easier for me to learn to parrying by blocking and be ready for a red parry than to go stir crazy and parry blindly when you're not even sure what you're looking out for.

Agreed. If you parry consistently, you'll grow a habit to parry in reaction to almost every move. Risking yourself to be left wide open more often. But after learning your opponent's rythm and getting a feel for it, you can anticipate most of if not all of your opponent's movement and act accordingly. But just IMO, other ppl may disagree and have their own ideas on using the parry system "effectively" If you do please post. I don't mind being wrong, or corrected. I'm just interested to learn.

Just a quick note, the other system of waiting to parry "consistenly" might work for MOTW, whereas if you just defend and do miss the timing, you don't leave yourself as wide open because inevitably you will block. Just my .02 cents.

Thats why you practice
Most the combos for each char are text book really...most combos are really easy thats why its best to parry lots...the more you parry the better you become
The only time you should really block then parry is during supers your not really good at parrying...like whenever im playing against a dudley SA1 i let him do the SA uppercut and just parry the last hits (3 with smaller chars but 5 with taller chars)
JD is completely different to parrying...parrying gives you the advantage hit which is why its best to do it and looks extremely cooler when you pull off a 6+ hit parry
