Since grabbing a PSP this week (Japanese import), I was just curious as to who else out there has one or is planning on getting one. Despite the price and a few minor issues, I'm extremely happy with mine and don't regret splashing out on one, and I can see myself getting a lot of use out of it, not just with games, but also with the MP3/video side of it too.
So, who else is getting one or has one already. What do you think of it, and what games have you been playing or are looking forward to? Or... do you want a Nintendo DS instead?

I'll take the DS because right mow the PSP doesn't have any games that interest me. The DS on the other hand will be getting Castlevania, Advance Wars, and does not have a bad button like the PSP.

as usual i'm the type of guy who never buys things at its release date. i, well i mean my lil bro already has a nintendo ds and as of now, one portable will do until maybe PSP's price goes down a bit. i'm still concentrating on earning for a slim ps2 ever since my old one broke down back then.

i really don't get the hype at all. i never buy things as soon as they come out since its a mugs game, what's the point of buying something when the price is sky high, bugs everywhere, and no idea whether it's going to be obsolete in a couple of years time. ironically the best thing about the neogeo is the worst thing about the psp right now.

I looked at them and played with a friends PSP and I really like the hardware. At the moment none of the games out interest me much if at all ,and I find it irritating that I cant buy the hardware alone So really that combination of things has kept me from buying one or planning on buying one in the near future. At some point I will probably pick one up. Bye the way I have the Torrent file for the South Park episode where Kenny saves the world bye playing the PSP like a mad man If anyone wants it shoout me a PM and I can email or IM it to you, or maybe Kaz could host it here on the site somewhere ?

Same here. Although I'm also holding out for a region release of a ds that's graphite black. Those look awesome.

I imported a Japanese psp about a month ago, and I couldn't be more pleased. I didn't go for the value pack, because I thought the added value wasn't exactly added. A 32MB memory stick? What's up with that? Get the standard pack, and with the money you spare buy yourself a decent memory stick. And a protective cover, the one thing in the value pack that is really worthwhile, as the psp is a dust and fingerprint magnet.
Since I have a wireless network at home, one of the first things I tried was updating the firmware, and it worked like a charm. My Japanese psp now supports Dutch (my mother language).
I only got Lumines for the psp so far, but it's keeping me busy enough. Great puzzle & music game.
Maybe the psp should have supported more video formats, because now you have to convert to mp4 every time, and the position of the movie map on the memory stick isn't logical either (the psp doesn't even put it on the memory stick when you first format it). On the other hand, this conversion makes it possible for you to determine the quality and size of the video file.
The price tag on the games is right, the umd video on the other hand is a bit too expensive at this point.

I choose the last option coz for me the recent prize of psp is not reasonable. Only few games that are cool like MGS:acid,GT,dynasty warriors, etc. I'll wait for more cool games and the prize of psp to drop.

I don't have that bad button on problem on my PSP - just the lightest touch and the square button works ok, but I think mine is possibly I slightly newer console because it already the latest firmware installed (1.50) when I got it... unless lik-sang pre-installed the latest firmware before shipping it? Is the button problem only with the first batch of PSP's? I am going to get a DS because I really do want Castlevania as I'm a big fan, and I'd also kinda like Wario Ware Touch, because that game is great fun! However, at the moment there are more games that I want on the PSP, so it is the better machine for me. I've wanted a really good new Ridge Racer game for a long time and now I have it, plus I have wanted a really good new Wipeout and now there is one. I'm probably going to pick up Wipeout soon, and then Lumines, as well as GT when it comes out - hopefully that game turns out good! Metal Gear Acid does look kinda interesting though, I might consider grabbing that if I can pick it up for cheap. By the way, Amazon have started doing many UMD films for a knock down price, many seem to be around $14. Hopefully other retailers start to follow suit though, and the prices drop down... I'm not all that bothered about UMD films right now anyway. For the time being I just want a bigger memory card so I can upload a ton of MP3's and some Family Guy episodes to it so I can watch them at work when I'm bored ;D Candycab: That episode of South Park is hilarious I actually already grabbed a version that has been downsampled to fit on the standard 32mb memory card - if anyone else wants it, you can find it on this site: www.pspcrazy.com/pspvideodirectdownloads.htmThere's a few other vids too, as well as some Red Vs Blue episodes Kaz

The PSP doesn't really interest me for the simple fact that the games offer nothing new. Whereas the DS on the other hand has (or is getting) some very interesting titles.
Can't wait to get hold of Electroplankton, Nintendogs etc.
