Ok, now on difficulty level 4, I got to Mukai after losing to Kusanagi. When continuing I chose "no service" and proceeded to destroy him anyway.
For the two fights after that, I beat the entire teams with my first character.
I find nothing wrong with Gato actually, in fact I like a lot of his new moves and find them rather useful. I also find that Shen Woo plays like Yashiro.
I am actually rather good with all of the new characters. -wanna play as Adelheid though. (I saw a video of "KOF2k3superplus" which had him selectable along with Mukai and Maki!

Adel seems like he'd be a good character to play as and not too cheap. Anyways i also have been hearing from peeps that the only way to get to Mukai is to kill kusangi's punk ass with a dm... now off to go try that.
Btw, has anyone decided their top 3 for this year yet, i been playin alot with almost every character lately and so far my top 3 are- K' Maxima Yama

The few moves Shen does have are really good, unfortunately i must agree he does have to few moves... He doesn't remind me of yashiro though, infact i'd rather be playing as Yashiro. Though he does look like a fruit, i think Ash is the best new character.

Ash seems like a Guile ripoff to me with his charge projectile and somersault kick but his fireball super is really cool(kinda like Kain's from MOTW).

Ash is kinda like a guile rip of, but a he's a whole lot better cause he doesn't have to deal with that horrid charge shit for all every one of his moves.
Who else feels that Terry & Ralf are a bit worse this year gameplay wise? Terry without his rising tackle and Robert without his tackle really kinda brings them down a notch imo. Though a few of Kings new moves are great but with the SvC engine it seems her moves don't connect as easy and aren't as effective overall as they used to be. (not that they still aren't good)
The more i play and see bg's seems i get a feeling that though they look like they have lots of animation some of them still have that traditional snkp washed out look (dock & the wooded area with aztec temple looking thing in the bg comes to mind) that doesn't fit well with the more colorfull character sprites imo.

Yeah the bg's don't impress me all that much. New characters like Malin look pretty good but practically no effort was put in to Kyo's new outfit. After I get some major play time in I'll dish out a review.

Man, I just played the game and it feels very strange compared to the past KOF's. Backgrounds look great. Im glad that the backgrounds this time were better than the last few KOF's, some had 3 or more different layers which moves at a certain speeds when moving across the stage to give that sorta 3D-ish feeling. I give the backgrounds for KOF2003 full marks. Music is a mix bag, I recognise some of them have remixed tunes from KOF2000. Best "new" BGM I liked was Korean Team I think. I was surprised to hear a famillair classical BGM for the boss. I found the game really fast. One thing I hated the most was that Terry's rising tackle aint there anymore. I always automatically keep chargin for one when I play as him by the time I remember I get beated up quite bad. The combos the CPU can do are lethal sometimes, that I cant get out of them.

After playin this edition for about an hour straight i went back and played 2k1... I'm starting to feel kof2k3 might be best snkp developed kof yet. I been havin alot of fun totally destroying all my opponents yet i still always fight Adel as the final boss.... Does anybody else feel that Leona seems a bit worse this year along with Ralf? with the quickness of this years gameplay i think Heidern would have fit in alot better even though it would be breaking the normal team. (I've always thought he plays better anyways ) Also, Yamazaki's move where pummels his opponent like crazy on the ground then bites into them like a rabbid dog.... new fav. kof move hands down ;D

Mukai can be fought if you beat KUSANAGI with a Leader SDM and correction ash is not a guile ripoff.... he is a REMY ripoff, these guys have a lot more style than that cheapass military dude ;D and yes, Yama ownz this year ;D he's always my team leader and my team is Yama. Billy, Gato (or somtimes Kusanagi) btw, how do you do Terry's "raging storm" move?
