So far I am loving the SNK rooftop stage and the train stage, both look superb. And you are right Seiryu, Shen does look a lot like Vanessa with some of his moves, although that is not a totally bad thing as Vanessa was pretty cool imho.

Yeah, guess he is Vanessa´s replacement... I love playing with Vanessa, she totally rocks!!! I´d rather see her come back in Athena´s team to spice up the true female part in there, instead of that boring Hinako.......... ....guess they really needed an all lolita team in there for teh fanboys.

quick question. Since I havent played the game can you switch between characters ala cvs2 anytime or are there certain parameters like rotd and how did snk do it using the same technology most remarkable. Just think they could have did this 10 years ago if im correct. Is my logic wrong?

Unfortunately i don't think any of us have played it but this is from the official kof2k3 site.
"If the Change Sign above the Power Gauge lights up during matches, you can substitute team members anytime you want! Push the "B & C" buttons or the "C & D" buttons simultaneously to substitute battling characters with waiting characters. And with a stock of Power Gauges, enter " + B & C buttons simultaneously" or " + C & D buttons simultaneously" to change characters while attacking opponents (uses up 1 Power Gauge)!!!"
from the video's it appears that team mates come out quite quickly whenever called upon.

Well, I dunno if they could have done this 10 years ago. Using half forgotten info I learned from a hardware faq some years ago I shall elaborate. Remember the sign that flashes up about '300 mega pro gear spec' on older NeoGeo titles? The 300 megabit (I think its 300 on the old games) was the theoritical max of the Neo's cartridges. Last Blade 1 was the largest of these, so I've heard. Then they came up with the other thing (yeah I'm specific ) the 'hyper pro gear spec' I think (the sign that flashes before KOF98, RBFF2, and most games during and after 98. The supposed cartridge limit was now much higher (duh) I don't know if there is anything special about the KOF 2k3 hardware or upcoming MVS and AES carts, but otherwise SNK should have been able to do this since making their new hardware in '98. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ It seems I've never read these Hinako comics, dare I ask?

Yeah it was just a way they came up with that let them go past what they thought was the limit for cart size, but afaik it didn't involve any extra hardware or anything like that, and I don't think KOF 2003 uses anything extra either. Remember, it isn't all that difficult to do this kind of thing on a cart system, as it can just pull the characters it needs right out of the carts memory, theres no need to load them in or anything. Hell, even the SNES could have done it - remember in Mortal Kombat, you could morph into any character with Shang Tsung, while even the Playstation versions couldn't do it as it would have had to load them off the CD (and didn't have enough memory to store them all at one time). As far as I know, you have to wait for a bar to charge up before you can tag a character in, but otherwise it works similarly to MvC2 I think. The main reason they put this limit on the tagging is to stop things from getting cheap - if you could tag in and out constantly, can you imagine the kind of infinites that people would most likely figure out? Hell, there's already complaints about it now, let alone if you could tag whenever you wanted to Kaz
