I thought the general music in CvS2 was kaka. There were only 2 or 3 songs that sticked out, being the Rugal tune,Gouki tune ad that tune from the green restaurant stage with the turning battle ground. Other than that...it was lame. well, i though it was ok... let's face it, KOF + GGXX style music wouldnt fit , but i hope that happens in the atomiswave ver of KOF  |

I just want to see a return to the good old days of KOF music. We either need music that is of the same quality as 96/98/99/2K, or for Noise Factory to come along and blow us away with a totally new soundtrack. The problem is that the old team that used to do the music has probably left SNK now, and I don't think that Noise would be able to fit one of their soundtracks on a KOF game... there's only limited space on a Neo cart, and considering most of the space is probably taken up by all the different characters on a KOF game, I doubt they could do it, as their stuff is really just massive long sound samples.
Having said that, has anyone seen Need For Speed Underground on the GBA yet? Somehow EA managed to cram about 5 or 6 full songs on a tiny GBA cart, very impressive. I suppose it might still be possible...

I think most of the newest SNK/NG games have used the max space limit of the sound roms. I believe ROTD, KOF2k2 SVC etc. have all used the same space with their sound roms. (The V's and M's BTW)
I thought the music/sound in ROTD and Matrimilee was rather distorted and rough sounding, almost as if noise factory needed to use more distorted wavs to save space...

Yeah, in games like Matrimelee/RotD/MS4 all the music is basically just large samples that have been fairly heavily compressed to fit on the cart, hence the quality not being all that high. It sounds a little bit flat admittedly, but it is about the best you are gonna get given the Neo Geo's capabilities. Still, Noise Factory's tracks music tends to be really good, so you can forgive the low quality of it imho.
